any chance to watch this in Europe?

Someone said last week that a few of the Eurosport channels are picking it up. It seems Eurosport in Australasia is not so I will be looking elsewhere.

Interesting race. I hope they will put a serious MTF in the course next year though.

With this line-up it would've been a great race. Not so sure about it now, allthough the Colombians will likely fire things up.

In my dreams, the Tour of California, Tour of Georgia, Tour of Missouri, Tour of Gila, Tour of Utah [the Hood River and Sea Otter as well] will all merge forming a true forth Grand Tour.

My fantasy is to see a Tour of the Americas with a week in South America, a week in Central America, and a week in North America.

As it is, we have to deal with what we have. As for the lack of a real MTF, let us let the peloton first deal with the altitude.

my thought is that you can't move that fast and just expect everything to work out. Ideally, you would see USPCC, Tour of Gila, and Tour of Utah combine first for a tour of the 4 corners, then combining with the Tour of California for a tour of the western US, then finally combining with the Eastern U.S. for a full grand tour type race. That way you are building more tradition and you have existing organisation for the races. There are obvious issues with this happening, but imo its more realistic than just starting a gt out of nothing. You need some tradition first.

Note that I used "in my dreams" and "my fantasy." If an organization is willing and able (and remember, ASO owns a good part of the ToC), it would be twenty years before my dreams are realized.

And getting back on topic, the more I think about today's prologue, the more I like George Hincapie.

0930hrs MDT (1530 GMT) weather in Colorado Springs. Sunny, 73F (23C), 6mph (10kph) NW winds, possible thunderstorms in the afternoon (30%)

Big George definitely has an excellent chance. He should be in good form, he knows what to expect, and he's got the capability for great momentum and speed. I would bet he's been eyeing this for a win.

I'm still rooting for Jens though!

Lest anyone think I am pimping this race, I am - I've got stage previews ready to go for all stages (some may even approach Hitch's stellar Giro and TdF previews). Not for any kind of rewards other that really wanting to see a successful rebirth of the Coors Classic. Many here have poo-poohed this race, some here have belittled me for my advocacy of this race. Fine. I'm sure supporters of the initial Dauphine faced similar derisions.

It is a new stage race with some strong backing. It's parcourse is lacking, but before any stage race will suit our fancy, it must suit the locals' proclivities. Let us [strike]overlook[/strike] set aside the deficiencies, and instead marvel in how difficult this race will be, and how talented the field is.

Levi looked good in Utah. Not sure about a downhill TT. I'm taking Zabriskie, TvG, and Evans.

Overall? Levi has a great shot. Personally, I hope the Colombians tear this race apart. I think one of the Schlecks will try for the GC though. Their victories have been few this year.

yes, i was talking about the GC.
