God- every time I look at those stage profiles makes me realize that Leech-heimer is closer to win this race-there is simply no way anybody can put him in trouble, when the so called "mountain pass" is half way the course.......what a waste:(

Don't see a sprint finish in this one. You know that the sprinters will be dropped when Evans and Henao attack... Especially if this happens in the 2nd climb aswell. Would like to get the live pictures ASAP. Expecting the bunch to be battered.

it breaks my heart so see a strong guy like acevedo going into a kamikaze mission.gobernacion is trying but those roads are for huge trucks not for entertaining cycling races...

The routes have been in the eye of scorn since they were announced last year.
I think they might have been thinking the altitude plus major climbs would scare away top names. Also, this race is two reliant on the Cali model of host town sponsorship...the merchants want the finish in town to make money.

Sorry, I am a little tired of the "proper" route discussion. It's old news.

That said, everyone was disappointed that Durango to the top of Red Mountain Pass and Mt. Evans were not included. I try to post links to google earth maps.

Red Mountain!!!

I was scared as hell when I went through there with my family when I lived in Colorado.

And by the way, my son was born in Grand Junction.

That would be a good route, no? It's the IronHorse Classic plus one. I road the Iron Horse back in the day. Twice road back to Durango after. I can't believe I did that stuff. All the tourists would be coming behind the race and we would sneak into their feed stops and stuff our pockets.

I haven't heard anything either - three Europsort channels & they're all wrong.

Says Tennis on one and it's snooker

Says Snooker on another & it's motor cycling

Says Cycing on the third & it's a compilation of bike crashes.

No doubt the Vuelta will be Kabadi.

Went for mantracker instead.

Snookers' meant to be on that channel. It's all bike crashes on Eurosport 2 - no chance anything has overrun there.

Vuelta highlights won't be on until midnight. Have to watched the shortened one on ITV 4 in a mo.

I had to drive a U-haul truck from Durango to GJ over Red Mountain Pass.

As far as a stage ending ontop there, that would be cool, but there is no room up there. It wouldn't be bad to have the finish in Ouray, because it's not like there is a long straightaway for things to come back together..
