Valencian one-day races 2025 (January 24-26)

After his performance on stage three? I think losing 90 seconds was really disappointing. 40 seconds would have been more accpetable/to be expected.

Last year he was decent one day and then below par the next in WT stage races, so I definitely wasn't getting my hopes up after stage 3. I don't know where he was positioned once the gaps opened up in the final, but even if he had finished with the U23 riders, he would only be on his way to another 10 UCI points.

Sunday's race sees the debut of little Lenny M and his Bahrain team. Last year he blitzed the early one day races but it'll be harder this year as he'll be a marked man. Friday's winner Berrade is due to start for Kern. Hirschi is also on the starting list for his new team Tudor so maybe UAE won't have everything their own way.

Who wins tonight (for me at least)? I don't know a lot about the race honestly
The last climb is pretty brutal. 3,5 km @ 9%. It might be too much for the likes of Hirschi, although there are 10 km from the top to the finish line. I think this suits Martinez very well, and he's my favorite. His teammate Buitrago should also like this, and he's the designated leader for Bahrain. Christen could be the biggest threat on the climb, although I've yet to see him do anything that suggests that he's capable of dropping Martinez and Buitrago here. I think it's too hard for the likes of Morgado, Madouas, and even Aranburu. I like Champoussin as an outsider. He was going well yesterday, and he has a good sprint.

Yeah, previous editions are seemingly good for sprinters but this one looks a lot harder. Engelhardt is a smokie for me
