Variation on UCI WorldTour Team rankings...

Note: I'm using the same scales the UCI does for their WorldTour, only based on team results (adding the places of the top three individuals on each team for individual stages and one-day races, adding the times of the top three individuals on each stage for each team for stage races). I'm also including Professional Continental teams in these rankings...sorry for not posting this earlier, but it took me this long to read that this website actually had a forum! (hooked on phonics failed me!)

Entering Tour de France:

1. Katusha, 980
2. Sky, 872
3. Movistar, 797
4. Astana, 765
5. Radioshack-Nissan, 641
6. Omega Pharma-Quickstep, 616
7. Garmin-Sharp, 554
8. Rabobank, 546
9. BMC, 495
10. Ag2r, 393
11. Lampre-ISD, 358
12. Vacansoleil-DCM, 326
13. Liquigas-Cannondale, 312
14. Saur-Sojasun, 256
15. Europcar, 216
16. Euskaltel-Euskadi, 196
17. Saxo Bank-Tinkoff, 170
18. Orica-GreenEDGE, 150
19. FDJ-Big Mat, 140
20. Colnago-CSF Inox, 127
21. Farnese Vini-Selle Italia, 80
22. Argos-Shimano, 70
23. Lotto-Belisol, 64
24. Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela, 42
25. Cofidis, 25
26. NetApp, 21
27. Type 1-Sanofi, 12
28. Acqua & Sapone, 11
29. Andalucia, 2

Edit to add: Just to prove that I'm not trying to drive links, I haven't posted this anywhere else. This is exclusive to Cyclingnews.com.

Is the official UCI points listing posted anywhere - I've searched the UCI website but failed to find it.
Thanks

Also thank goodness the points leader white jersey faded away.

Is that what you are looking for?
.....................................................

Great - that is what I was looking for.

But back to the URL in post #3:
It states only the points of a teams top 5 riders are used to compile the team rankings. My immediate reaction is that a team could accumulate the most rider points (with around 30 riders) of all the teams yet place low in the team rankings.

Yes. The "top five riders only" clause is a wee bit absurd, in my opinion. If six separate riders from the same team (hypothetical) win the five monuments and the Tour de France, one of those results simply doesn't count. It doesn't reward team depth at all. (which is the brainchild of my deciding to start this project)

How can Green-Edge be behind Saxo if they'he won TDU, San-Remo, Catalunya, 3rd or something on FW and a Giro Stage?

Wigwan-Because the ranking for each race is based on the top three riders from the team in the race (and in each stage). I don't have the results from each individual stage listed in my spreadsheet, but I can tell you where Orica-GreenEDGE and Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank got their results, as well as the team results from the one-day races:

Orica-GreenEDGE: 10 from Tirreno-Adriatico, 60 from Milan-San Remo (4th), 32 from Catalunya, 7 from al Pais Vasco, 37 from the Giro, 2 from Dauphine, and 2 from Suisse.

Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank: 31 from Tirreno-Adriatico, 6 from E3 (9th), 22 from Gent-Wevelgem (6th), 40 from al Pais Vasco, 10 from Paris-Roubaix (9th), 22 from Amstel Gold Race (6th), 4 Romandie, 12 from the Giro, 22 from Dauphine, 1 from Suisse

Edit to add: Look at where they finished in the teams classification for those stage races, rather than just where the first riders finished. (for one-day races, and individual stages, look at where they would have finished under the 2005-2008 UCI teams formula where they added the top three placings of each team)

BTW, for those interested, I'm working on the 2011 version of this. I actually have that one saved on an old computer, but it wasn't revised for (see The Clinic for more information).

Surely, though, the 5 riders only clause is to discourage hoarding of talent like at Mapei for the classics and USPS in the GTs. The racing is far more exciting if the best riders are spread across teams, rather than all working for one or two superior riders.
