I don't think he was minutes behind. It looked like he had the Mavic service car which was behind the peloton in sight so he was probably less than a minute back.

Velits: "I had to change bikes three times and I was losing time each time."

A crash and three bike changes put you behind much more than a minute. Especially in mountain stages when team car is far behind.

I'm Velits fan, so here is a hope for Top10

Impressed by Velits. I expect he would've been right up there in the top 15 had it not been for a crash and three bike changes. Gaining 5 minutes on Martin despite all that must mean Martin becomes his domestique. A top 10 finish is still very much on the cards.

If Martin continues to be dropped at the beginning of the penultimate climb, he won't be much help. TJVG is much better.
