Victoza?

I know someone who is taking Victoza for type-2 diabetes. People lose GOBS of weight, and damn quickly. Has anyone heard of it in the peloton?

1) is it banned yet?

2) It's been out for at least 2 years post-approval by the FDA. Why would anyone take Clenbuterol when this drug is available?

Some people will risk cancer if they can win the TDF. Live fast, die young.

Look up some other things. People losing 3-4 lbs per week (for example). I'm just surprised I've not heard it mentioned by cyclists (yet). People report a huge drop in cravings for fatty, sugary foods. I just want to know if it is on the banned list yet, and if not, why would cyclists resort to Clenbuterol.

Just skip the carbs, same effect. Works for me. Doesn't feel lie dieting with the amount of meat and eggwhite I eat. Veggies for the vitamines and flavour. Skip fruits as well.

Fifth page S4 :

S4
The decision to move insulins to section S4 without copying the words “releasing factors”
and “other substances with similar chemical structure or similar biological effect(s)”
means that the substances exenatide and liraglutide are permitted per 1-1-2013. We are
curious about the backgrounds that have led to this decision.
Please provide the rational (scientific, practical or otherwise) for permitting two
substances that are currently banned

Liraglutide is the generic name for Victoza :

Thank you for this. So, as of jan 1st, Victoza will shift to being allowed. Meaning that next summer, you're going to see some GREATLY changed bodies in the peloton as certain riders shed weight. But who knows... Perhaps the race will actually be competitive next summer.

How can you ride without carbs?

The same way people were able to hunt before the invention of bread...

Joking aside, your body doesn't need carbs and you can function perfectly well without them. Some say the brain needs carbs and while that is technically true the body (a wondrous machine) is able to produce most (or all depending on what source you read) of it from other energy deposits (ie the fat in your body).

As Cloxxki says it's the easiest way for a true weight (ie fat) loss - especially combined with fasting - instead of the standard calorie-restriction-plenty-of-exercise routine which really doesn't work long term.

There are claims that "fat-loading" instead of "carb-loading" also improves athletic ability, but as far as I know that's very disputed - anyone to elaborate?

Liraglutide and Victoza

Just bumping this thread as it is interesting in the context of the current extremely rapid weight loss of Wiggins and Froome etc.

Liraglutide ( brand name Victoza ) is still not on the WADA banned list. I would suspect it is extremely likely that Team Sky and others are using this.
