I hope since this forum is about doping placing this thread is okay.

Would someone please tell me what the heck golfer Vijay Singh confessed to using? What is "Deer spray" and how does that help him? Also, should parents now be worried about their kids running to ****'s?

Insulin Growth Factor (IGF-1), allegedly from deer antler spray, which is squirted under the tongue.

The evidence on whether the spray is effective as a herbal remedy, alternative medicine treatment is about as convincing as homeopathy.

Okay, so I require more info... exactly what will that do to help his game? Are all growth hormones on the WADA banned products list for athletes? I was reading an article and it mentioned this IGF-1 is as innocuous as drinking milk which also contains IGF-1. Is it??? And if that is true, does PGA have a huge decision to make especially in view of the huge problem with lance?

I don't know if you're being facetious or completely serious. I know I am!

There are so many ways these people come up with to cheat that I really don't know why anyone would seriously cheer on any athlete.

Deer Antler Spray??? What the heck does it do for an athlete? Golfer Vijay Singh is like the counterpart to cyclist George Hincapie.

Who knows what helps his game.

To the quote above, PGA has already decided there is no doping controversy. Go back a couple of years when Tiger was buuuuulkeeee and being "trained" by a guy who later goes to jail for taking PED's from Canada to the U.S.

Repeat after me:

Golf has a strict anti doping policy and robust testing. (whatever they got is "strict" and "robust")
Cycling is the sport with a doping problem. Okay, maybe baseball.
The sport has moved on.
Cleanest field of golfers ever.
Vijay doesn't dope. He's never tested positive. That's how everyone knows he doesn't dope.
Why do you hate golfers?

Just keep repeating that.

Not sure that the Deer Antler spray is effective, some say it is HOGwash.

Why is Singh the counterpart to Hincapie?

Cool dark green color though.

The issue was raised during the coverage of a USPGA event on SKY(Oh the irony). The ex pros on SKY were slating the USPGA for basically putting their head in the sand (2 golf refences in one sentence). The USPGA are, I think, "looking into it". Some golf journalisits have qustioned Singh about it but he refuses to answer any questions.

The USPGA make the UCI look good (well, not quite).

It works.

I have been using it for about a year. You should see my antlers, especially around Christmas.

Deer spray was the basis of the allegations made against Ray Lewis in the run up to the Superbowl.

There is no test for IGF-1, though it is a banned substance in I think all major sports.

Personally I think its codswallop, but the guys and als must think it works to risk a positive test.

(hah)

So I'm still reading to find out why this product is used by athletes. Now if it is marketed as something like B-12 shots, then I suppose that is legal??? However, like sugar-free products have sugar in them, this product too, has unlisted items.

Now here's the thing, well a couple of things becoming one.

Vijay states he ordered over $9ooo in this spray, holographic chips and other products in November of last year. November! Remember that.

Linebacker David Vobora who was using this spray tested positive for "Methyltestosterone" back in 2990 and later won a $5.4 mil decision because he had no idea that product was in DAS.

So now, How likely is it that anyone in sports didn't hear about this decision and huge award? So then in Nov of last year, doesn't it seem reasonable that Vijay or someone in his camp would say to him, 'don't take that it contains banned substances'?

It always angers me when athletes use the I didn't know excuse when caught cheating, or confess to the same. Isn't it encumbered upon all athletes to know exactly what is on their banned products list and to make sure nothing they ingest has any of these items?

The "I didn't know excuse has really run its course. COme up with something new guys/gals.

Btw, The holo chips increase energy and stamina how can they be legal? Darnit! The sports fans just can't win. No matter where we turn we're going to run into someone doing something other than playing the game on just their own fuel.

Tygart was right, there is more to come.

Oh, to the poster wanting to know about Vijay and George... both men are the quiet unassuming type with that air of professionalism about them. You'd never think either was into doping. They both seemed so trusting. BAH!!!

Well, whether thru deer antler spray or someother "medical miracle", Ray Lewis missed about half a season with a torn triceps that normally ends an NFL player's season and requires surgery.

Probably don't have to look further than regular HGH, its not tested for in the NFL.

As naive as it sounds, I suspect that Vijay didn't know he was doing anything wrong. He didn't test positive, it was (i think) a bit of investigative journalism that discovered the purchase, he was then asked whether he used it, reply "Yes what of it", "well it contains blah" hence news story.

It sounds like he has had a go at every mumbo jumbo health scam going - wellness bracelets, magnets, sleeping under UV lights etc etc.

The reason he is getting it now is because, like Woods, Bonds and Armstrong, he has never played the game with the press - **** them off and they'll turn on you at the first opportunity, kiss up to them and they give you an easy route to redemption.

Besides - $5.4m isn't going to have much bang for its buck in 2990 ;)

The only way to improve GH is by

1) Directly injecting HGH into your body via syringe
2) Directly injecting IGF-1 into your body via syringe
3) Directly injecting a peptide into your body with a syringe which stimulate release of GH

You cannot ingest anything via the stomach regarding growth hormone. Your stomach will destroy it first of all. There is no oral route of GH.

This is why the entire concept of cattle being given growth hormone and it will get into your kids milk, and they drink it, and causes problems is a joke. Your body will destroy GH, assuming the pasteurization didn't kill it and everything else in the process of value.

Sublingual, depending on the substance, may/may not be able to be absorbed, depends on the molecule size.

Since this deer antler spray is equivalent to 99.999% water and some mythical pixie dust, it is worthless crap.

As I said in another thread, this substance is designed to be named when you fail a test for the real thing.

I'm still a bit in the dark... maybe it's this migraine headache. Is this thing marketed as a viagra type or what?

I can't quite grasp your definition of the use. "designed to be named when you fail a test for the real thing" what does that mean. If I tested positive for IGF-1 I could say, no way! It must be the DAS. Because in that case the user knows hes using something illegal.

0. Buy Dubious Herbal Remedy(tm) with Unnamed Magic Ingredient(tm)
1. Dope with Real Thing, don't actually use Dubious Herbal Remedy
2. Get caught
3. Proclaim innocence
4. Get a lab to test every substance in your house, including the catfood
5. Lab finds Dubious Herbal Remedy
6. Proclaim Ignorance

Hence you get to claim you "had no intent to dope", and walk away. Judges lay a lot of weight on intent. You can get a reduced sentence.

Now go Google "didn't intend to dope", and see what pops up.

WADA is quite clear on this. You should read the label. The individual and local sporting bodies are very lenient, though.

Okay, I think I got it. So this stuff is more or less in the possession of someone who is doping on something, and if/when caught can say, "No way... not me!

And I've never seen it even on the hunting shows where they ad everything "Deer." So what is it's market tag. Also Vijay also bought some Holographic Chips... are the legal?
And who know what the other "Stuff" was.

Excuse me but I didn't get it.. What is the point of getting doped in golf? I thought that golf was all about technique..
Thrash 200 + full force swings every day (don't forget all those driving range sessions ) and sooner or later you will pick up injuries. Bigger muscles reduce the likelihood of more serious injury. But more importantly HGH will speed recovery.

Line up 176 (can't remember the right number) guys with a close range of skill, allow say 10 of them to really bulk up using steroids and bingo they are outhitting everyone else by 40 yards. This may equate to 4 or 5 extra birdies per round.

actually incorrect.

bigger muscles, more speed, more explosive power and strength like Tiger has meant his body has started to fail him, by putting too much stress on the white tissue. the ligaments and the tendons, that all the hypertrophy androgens cannot strengthen in proportion to the new strength and power from the red tissue muscles.

tiger was not meant to be a muscle bound physique, his ligaments and tendons cant handle the strain eh

I seem to remember a certain American Football player who I won't name (Ray Lewis) being accused of using the same antler spray right before the Super Bowl. Of course no one will talk about it or care now that he's retired.
