Especially because that is going to cause huge confusion among commentators. Bay just said that it would be hundreths from the TTT.

Why are tie-breaking rules so complicated for so many people?
Because they happen so rarely in cycling nobody takes time to study said rules.

I do think split seconds are much preferable, and it's silly that TTTs are in whole seconds.

Bonus seconds in the middle of the stage tomorrow, Bahrain must close down all breakaway moves and ensure that Santi can take some there. Finish is too easy for him.

talking about stupid rules, Buitrago also lost 1 second to Almeida because rider #3 was used for the TTT result, and not #4, as it says in the roadbook.

There may have been a late amendment which is not publicly available, but I wouldn't know why.

edit: I honestly think the TTT result is incorrect no matter what rider you take. This is what I get, while the race has UAE 1s ahead of Bora for whatever reason

A break of three riders have more than 8 minutes. No bonus seconds for Santi on the climb, he will have to finish in the top-3 at the finish ahead of Almeida.

Weird that Bahrain let UAE control the tempo so far.

There's no serious climbing but the roads look good for attacking

Castrillo has a minute, in GC lead currently on the road

More than 50 km left so UAE has all the time to chase (+ Bahrain could help) but Castrillo looking good.

Peloton still pretty big

UAE, Bahrain and Lidl have most of their guys left

Might be some steep ramps here and there on what is left on the route, that could be a bit hidden? Twisty and narrow roads?

Still, will probably be a sprint at the end for the win.
