TTs has become a high tech race more than what is related to shape or form. Sure you need power. But I truly belive that the small adjustments are what is winning these stages.

Heard that Jonas has been training his hand position this winter. Because they found out while watching video of races, that he was riding with one if his thumbs up the nose.

They save 40-50 watts on something new every year, so in 10 years they will just be sleeping while racing

I noticed that Vinge taped over his wedding ring for the TT. Aero gains? Or is he telling us he will not be chained down?

Seems like that would affect his breathing as well! ;)

The big news from this race should be Roglic's poor form. He's due to do the Giro so it's time for some of that Red Bull cash to do it's wonders.

Rog wasn't great in the first ITT of the Giro 2023 either. In fact over a similar distance with a samey type of profile (flat then climb, albeit smaller), he lost 43 seconds on Evenepoel and even finished behind Tao GH.

So wait and see.

He didn't have a perfect run in to that giro and everybody else was in top shape. Didn't he have back surgery between his Vuelta crash and that giro? Now he's had a normal winter and everybody else is also not in the best shape. Usually he doesn't need much to get a good base level. On the other hand, his time up Malhao was not bad. I don't think he's way off but it's a bit surprising to see him slightly below par here. But I agree, wait and see, it's probably nothing.

Shoulder surgery IIRC. Some partial reconstruction to fix the shoulder from getting dislocated cause after repeated falls on it.

I think that TT was more down to tapering strategy than subobtimal preperation, cause he was doing very well in Catalunya.

Likewise, I'll worry slightly if he's complete ass in Catalunya.
