Didn't catch the stage at all because of work. Great to see Contador is back and doing well!

Lucky for Purito that Froome is 7 minutes behind him, or he'd lose the podium too.

I wonder if Ten Dam will be a protected GC rider in the future. He's had a great Vuelta.

Never. Maybe Giro/Vuelta, definitely not TdF. He's great, but he's even greater use for Rabobank with Gesink/Mollema in top shape.

Thought the same thing, I wonder what is left to discuss in The Unipublic way thread?

So the best stage happens to be the one with the easiest MTF and with an attack from afar, and somehow this is supposed to reinforce Unipublic's trademark stage designs of monster hard MTFs after mostly flat stages?

Never liked dominators and part of their fans who sometimes act disrespectfully :)rolleyes:) on the forums, but you deserved and suffered out this win together with Alberto! :)

I never like dominators as well and if Contador decides to win every single race from now I'll probably hope he will stop winning as well, but his attitude on the bike is just fantastic.
It's best when he's not dominating. Like this Vuelta, because that means we will get to see him attack when he thinks it's possible to attack. And that's quite often. Spectacle garanteed.

Here I was thinking that Contador attacked on the penultimate climb, maybe there wasn't any climbs until the finish?
What I meant was that this stage is quite different from all the other mountain stages in this Vuelta. Though race situation was the biggest cause of the epicness today.

It wasnt the best stage...it was only good for Contador's results, but the other stages were more fun to watch.

For me even though JRod took time out of AC the day before rest it had looked like the constant attacking had got to him. It was as if Contador could've kept the attack going a few more seconds at one point he'd have snapped. One thing is for sure is never say die is engrained in that lads brain.

Yes, but the course is designed by the organizers and the race by the racers. Had Contador never attacked, Rodriguez might have never cracked. Every one of those mtf's
I was praying for AC to drop him, I knew it was probable.

The only thing annoying me is really Rodriguez losing it. He deserves a big win, maybe it'll come one day. World Champion would look very good on him :)

i think now that contador has the vuelta in the bag he will trully work for purito and piti on the worlds like he said he would a couple months ago.

And yet it didn't happen... it happened in a totally different scenario, in an attack on a climb which wasn't the last one, far from the finish and with a brilliant tactical display.

Which is what I and others like me have been asking for for a long time: a variety of stages, including some which favor attacks from far.

Today's stage was certainly not the best, but it was much better than the single-climb stages.

If Contador works for Purito and Purito wins, well that would be a fairy tale.

But i dont believe in those.

Did you believe this was going to happen today?

Contador does the impossible (no clinic-intended). Without him it's not just the same. 5 minutes behind and 1 mountain stage to go? No problem i'll prob lose but i'll go from 90 km.

Just A Legend.

It's no secret I am not his biggest fan either for obvious reasons. I can't deny though he is the best GT rider I have seen in my 20 years following this sport. That was a privilege to watch. It's one of those moments where people will ask you in 20 years did you watch it. It was that good.

:)

I've been following the sport for longer...IMO he is the best since Hinault...

If he's not good enough. When he has great legs he'll try and win himself.

Besides Valverde was never good at the cauberg, don't know if that will change. And it's kinda hard for purito to recover from this, he acted like a gent but still this has to hurt a lot.
