That's the side they're descending. It's shorter and steeper from Miraflores ;)

Oh you're right, if they're coming from Canencia and heading to Cotos they must go up through the eastern side...

I guess you could be generous and give it a 1st Cat.

Valverdes effort at Fuente De has been somewhat overrated lately. Yes, he did well but we will not now how he´d gone if he rode flat out the way Alberto did. Valverde was escorted by mostly his teammates during that stage (Quintana and then Beñat i think). Besides he has been mostly outridden on the steeper climbs this Vuelta.

Valverde deserves credit for wheelsucking a wheelsucker :D

Although judging by the carnage it produced they might as well have labeled Collado de Hoz a HC. :-D

They're raising funds for a monument to Alberto that will be placed in its ramps :D

Who here think Contador will attack big style tomorrow?

I do. A lot of people say he just has to ride defensively to win. True. but I just don't see that as being his style or anything that has characterized this race. Plus he has been coming into form more and more. Valv and jr I think are on the limit and I think he's going to put on a show tomorrow. It would be so appropriate to close this out in a fashion that would be a grand finale to a great fireworks show.

We all know how Alberto rides. If he has the legs he'll try and win.

It's pretty much his hometown, i expect crazy **** tomorrow.

A LOT OF FANS

What i meant with "defensively" was that he has more options in hands for tomorrow and no need to stress to get rid of the likes of Purito with irrational attacks. If Purito will fight for the overall (or GC) he needs to do something and that plays in the hands of Contador. Valverde must fight too and that plays even more in his favour. Tomorrow i can think of just one killer blow halfways up to be sure that he is clear and rides solo along his supporters. Hell, tomorrow i bet the whole town of Pinto will be empty.

But we now Contador. If he feels for attacking on the foot he will do so.

Agree with many of the comments that valverde shouldnt be able to hold the big 2 on this climb, pacing is key in this go too early and you will pay in the final km, their are flat spots thou to recover.

Outside the top 3 anton should have a good day, i expect another big day from talansky. Otherwise im not sure who could do well, quintana will have to work for valverde but certainly could have gone well.

Well if it comes down to Purito and Contador on the final climb, Contador can just hold his wheel since Purito needs to stick time into Piti to try and nab second place. He holds all the cards tommorow and can play them any way he wants to.

Purito begins to look real tired, also mentally, I see him finish down in top 5 - 10 today.
Piti looks strong and motivated, but I think AC takes this, he got the best legs after 3 weeks than anybody, only question is if the Saxo boys will keep it together until del mundo, on the other hand, knowing Riis, he will probably make it hard as possible and try and suck the energy out of the contenders before the final climb, so it could be another showdown from Saxo today, making everyone suffer, and AC takes the stage, I think he really want this.

Has Contador the Vuelta already in the bag?

I don't see Valverde or Purito beating him on the last climb but if Katowa or Movistar go for it by tactics there is a small chance

Alberto is stronger, other Purito and Valverde are really tired
It will be a good show

mosquera vs nibali was quite a fight, somehow I dont expect anything like that this time. either a dull stalemate or AC decimating everyone.

hopefully Rodriquez and valverde trade punches, however. would be a shame if purito has cracked mentally, as som suggest. I dont buy it, yet.
