We can't know that for sure. That form doesn't guarantee superiority over Froome too. No matter how one is strong, a stronger rider always can come in sight.

Are you saying Froome is the best stage racer of this generation? I am convinced that Alberto in 2009(/2011) form would crush Froome.

I don't think he could beat that Contador. Heck Contador from that giro didn't even got pushed to his limits so we don't even know how strong he really was.
But we can say approximately the same about Froome in the Tour. The day before yesterday Purito would of been cruelly flipped, if Froome had been in the Tour form.

Froome impresses me more than anyone else for the years I follow. He really shows himself as a superman

You're serious? Purito is not at the level of Froome or off sky. The only thing he usually does is follow and sprint at the end.

He hasn't showed much endurance on longer climbs besides in the latest giro but competition there wasn't that hard. And his TT still sucks.

The only guy who will succeed in it is Contador. Maybe AS but I doubt it.

Hard to call this one. A few kms longer but steep only for the final 5kms.
Could well still be within Purito range, or TeamTrain Sky could derail
him, short of the finish, or Contador could be well watered and put them
all out the back door.

Ah, the forum is doomed to accept new hierarchy oversensitively. One may really need a clinic. Not a forum one.

Definately a Purito stage imo. If there is any mountain J ROd is good at, its a 7k steep one near his home.

And thats before we consider that J Rod has been on the form of his life this year, and has had the best preperation of all of the current top 5.

Problem is, does he stick in for a likely stage win, or does he attack to try and gain time for gc. His giro actions suggest its the former.

You should know by know Rodriguez can't really attack for a long time and gain much time. His best, most efficient way of riding is the same as Valverde's. Hang on as long as you can and attack in the final km.

If he goes earlier he usually blows himself up, unless he is a LOT stronger than the competition (Dauphine 2011). Which isn't likely here

yesterday's tactic at sky was dumb, uran punctures and sky pulling as crazy, froome included, for swift?

i'm wondering if froome never gets tired

and as for today, rain can change the scenario, i see valverde well in those conditions

He attacked on Rocco di Cambio 3km before the finish and took about 30 sec. But there was no real attacking initiative then which is hard to expect from today's stage. I don't think him to attack earlier than 200 meters to go as well.

Yea about that, Froome barely get a gap on Valverde and cant get JRod of his wheel, so I do not think that this Froome is THAT strong, raher AC is not in anything like top shape

This is a really important stage. If Contador loses time today I don't give much for his chances. This final climb should really suit him if he's feeling good. Otherwise...

Iam already nervous too,cos I dont have a bet for stage winner:rolleyes:

If Purito doesn't like this sort of climb it would have been dumb from him to tell Unipublic to have a Vuelta stage finish here.

i've been far away for some days but it looks like i was just getting back in time to see grande bisonte smashing everyone today :p i hope he can limit his losses at least

froome is an obvious choice for this stage and i expect a serious gap to alberto.but he will be stronger in the second week

oh and did i already say how much i love this edition of vuelta?crazy stuff ! hopefully the spaniards can survive today to froomy's brutality.
