Stage was dead when Valverde didn't try to go with Lopez
Don't think it's dead yet. It's in a coma with a low chance of recovery but not quite dead yet.

Quintana trying to do a mohoric.
I think its a nice move. Unlikely to do much, but at least it forces Yates to push somewhat out of his comfort zone (and we've seen Adam Yates is a pretty poor descender when he's pushing it), and also makes it difficult for anyone in the group to eat or drink properly on the descent - so more chance of someone bonking.

I said yesterday I expected Valverde to be more interested in defending his position on the podium than actually going for the win. Trying a long range attack is typically not his preferred style of racing. He's also one, even after the injury and after his Tour podium that is not willing to risk everything to win.

Somebody's gonna win it, no doubt, but it required some creativity, of which the 2-5 ranked guys have none.

Would be kinda funny if they exit the tunnel and it turns out all hell broke lose.

One just has to wonder where Lopez would be had he ridden like that for three weeks
