I think its very much expected. They are 2nd tier GC contenders at best. Both performed above themselves for most of the race, now regressing to the mean.

What is Kruijswijk doing? There's 4 left of the Vuelta. Save your podium for christs sake!

I think Quintana would have had a decent shot at the podium if he would have been left to ride his own race in the last couple of days. These stages were way more suited to him than to Valverde.
