Still can't believe how the first two mtf's of the race both went to Benjamin freakin King. I mean we went into this race with half the field being top climbers who didn't want to go for the gc yet somehow King gets two wins.

That's the way of La Vuelta, crushing your world view when the world threatens to make sense

wtf happened to S. Yates? That was p*ss poor for him.
Too much has been read into the performance on Alfaguara, where he was let go, but Buchmann caught him with ease. As I said earlier, he's probably not quite in Giro shape yet.
He is not the type of rider who will improve much in the third week

What? that depends purely on what kind of form he came into the race. He probably learnt from Giro a lot and came a little undercooked.

I think he likes it when the ascent is much stronger in short periods. This was a long one.

Movistar playing the waiting game but Quintana looks to be the main candidate for the win. Good prospects for the podium MAL, Yates, Uran, maybe Ion and Buchmann. Too bad for Kelderman, he could have been there. Valverde, I don't know. One thing looks certain, Aru's days as a GC contender are gone.

Since the Giro he likes everything, remember Zoncolan?

Great duel between King and Mollema. Some fine dramatic racing right there.
GC battle was just dull.

Congrats to King (for two days).

The breakaway battle surpassed the GC last km ticky tack attacks.

i guess thats because we didn't see most of it....
chapeau King...

Yeah well camera work doesn't seem to be a strength at the Vuelta even the sprints.
