Vuelta a España Vuelta 2025 route rumors

Gran Salida in.... Piemonte?

Edit I don't know my pasta geography

Edit edit turns out I do know my pasta geography UNIPUERTO FINESTRE ONE TIME

Rumours say that they will skip Southern Spain. It seems that the race will transfer from Italy to Alicante and go North to Andorra and/or Vall d'Aran. Then it will turn West: Navarra, Basque Country, Cantabria and Asturias. The last week will start in Galicia and will have the final stages in Avila and Madrid. There is nothing known about stage routes, departure and finish places.

Good, similar to 2019.

"Trying to not have heat waves, your luck merchant, Pogacar!!!" (Redrick, 2024)

The Vuelta returns to Andorra for a mountain stage at the end of the first week, possibly on Col de la Botella. Cabús was considered but it seems the logistics are difficult for Unipublic (tell that to those who have not seen stage finishes at Cortals' d'Encamp or Gamoniteiro)

Looks like the proposal of starting from Alicante after the Italian opening stages is dropped in favour of doing three stages in Catalunya. Interestingly there's a mention to stage 4 being on high mountains going to Briançon.

The end of the second week will be in Asturias with two lazy candidate MTFs:

Pog on the way to smash Heras' record once and forever.

Pogacar and Vingegaard who attacked the penultimate climb a full 0 times on the main mountain stages this year?

Besides they only do it if they think its already wrapped up
These two statements directly contradict each other, given that Pogacar had the Tour wrapped up after the first main mountain stage this year. The latter is also directly contradicted by what happened on Galibier in 2022.

Also, the opportunities to attack on the penultimate climb in this year's Alpine and Pyrenean mountain stages were (with the exception of Bonette) about ten times worse than San Lorenzo before Farrapona would be.
