It's normal for arrival and departure cities/towns to pay.

What's not normal is the low price. An average departure city in the Tour has to pay 20 times as much.

Last year Vuelta was paid 1 million € more or less from each town finish. The article speak about a little town, but there are two administration levels between a town and the spanish state so...

Why wouldn't they balance out the parcours at least a bit by having one of the numerous MTF's as an ITT? And why are they so against descent finishers?

There are two descent finish I think, no?

The stages to Ancares, Cutu Negru, and Bola del Mundo could create some gaps.
If they had put in another ITT, and some more demanding intermediate stages it would be a good course.

Vuelta could cut down on the number of mountain/hill top finishes if it put multiple mountains in stages instead of the 'one climb per stage' policy.

meh, every second stage with an uphill finish but yet there's no stage with really interesting profile, the Vuelta is the most awfully designed GT of 2012. these uphill finishes will just ruin the race :(

****ing hell. Some people are just impossible to satisfiy. It's either lacking MTF's, has too many flat stages, not enough TT kilometres, has too many TT kilometres or too many MTF's.

OMG :D
Poor Vuelta... :(

OMG thats pathetic

i was going to say that it was stupid not to have a single stage over 200k but after reading that i don't even know what to say anymore.

does the vuelta organization has any pride on their own race? they just don't seem to care about losing move prestige every single year

you don't seem to get it do you.

the route is pathetic, i am honestly not that bothered about the amount of TT k's tho another itt would be good imo but its not what ruins the route at all, what i really think its pathetic is how they handle the mountain stages, no mountain passes and just 1 climb at the end of a 150k stage. that won't create any gaps and we will get the same old groups of 5 or 10 riders getting to the last 1k together.

btw i would much rather have 6 proper mountain stages with 4 MTF and 2 downhill finishes then 10 MTF's. the rest of the days could be either flat or medium mountain/ hilly stages with potential to have some great racing btw the favourites and some chances for guys from breakaways to win

The riders are the ones who are gonna make this parcours worth it or not. What we're seeing now, anyway, is that they're waiting for the last climb to attack. So be a little bit open minded.
