**it happens. And after all, Roglic losing time may open up the race a little, as the best ITT specialist of all the contenders, he can no longer Cadel Evans his way to the win. Small gaps.

FDJ B squad did quite well.

I have asked the organisation how this could have happened. They went to the house where the water came from. That is five hundred metres from the course, on a steep slope that goes straight onto the roundabout. There was a child playing in a inflatable plastic swimming pool that broke. As a result, according to the organisation, all of that water flooded down onto the road all of a sudden."

Please do away with the ridiculous TTT. Let's put 8 riders and a team car on a tight cicrcuit on slippery city roads and hope no one ruins their race on the first stage. Most TTT circuits seem to be designed by non cyclists. Bring back the prologue for God's sake. The city still gets it's tourist pictures...............

what the heck happened to Sepp Kuss? Any explanation?
I've read a couple articles that say it was a mechanical without going into detail. He was coming off the lead of the TT train when it happened. Instead of tagging onto the back of the train, he just slowed for a while, and then he was peddling again, but by then he was way behind. Maybe he slipped a chain at the worst moment, or maybe a gear issue? Once a big enough gap forms, there's no way to ride back to the train of riders.

I like this idea. If a TT course has to be tight/technical, let's not have it be a team time trial, where 7 or 8 riders have to fit together (with team car) . . . which multiplies the chance of misfortune, as one rider crashing probably means several riders crashing.

Remember 2-3 years ago they didn't count the opening TTT towards GC due to how crazy it was.

Wasn't that because it was too sandy being next to the beach, or something??

I think it had something to do with part of the course was on a boardwalk. I still can't figure out how a race organizer thinks a beach boardwalk is a good idea for any sort of race. And that is before you add the possible sand.

So some freak water accident prevents Jumbo from taking time and now suddenly being on the back foot, as well as having both their leaders crash. Great.

maybe great for the race. but obviously not very fair your race gets ruined to external factors. That sucks. Not 1 cycling fan should like that or encourage that
Also, do you really want to give the rider that's kinda sorta supposed to attack to get time for free. This is basically like saying it would be better for the race to start with a flat stage and have a shorter TT.
