Looking right through the start times and there are very few reliable time trial riders and the vast majority of the good ones like Tony Martin and Luis Leon Sanchez could be on orders to soft pedal and save energy to help their GC guy later in the week.

Unless the weather changes for the worse later on then I find it hard to see anyone beating Roglic to the stage win.

Bevin, Kiryienka, Kelderman, I. Izaguirre should all feature in the top ten. + Roglic & Valverde.
Not sure about Tony Martin & Oliveira, wouldn't surprise me if they were told to cakm down and save energy for their GC men.

Edit: ah, didn't see the above, my clever observation on Martin & Oliveira appears a bit stupid now, ha ha.

Soler could do well, but also may be asked to hold back some and save energy for later stages.

What about De Gendt? He's been very good in the GT ITTs this year
There's an interesting thought. I'd be surprised if he broke the top five, but not if he broke the top ten. On the other hand, the man has almost 13,000 kilometers of racing in his legs on the year. Realistically, I'd slot him in between 15 and 20th positions. I'm a terrible prognosticator, though.

Don Omar Aleksandrro Valverrde 1:05
Pablo Escobar Nairito Quintana 1:40
Clark Miguel Angel Kent Lopez 1:55

Roglić has a problem with gaining big time when the TT isn't on the first days of race (vide Giro this year or TdF 2018)

I'm sure you mean no harm, but to link any Colombian to Pablo Escobar is unfunny (to me, anyway, it's just so cliche and hacky) and ignorant (Nairo isn't even from Medellin). Not to mention that the ongoing association of Colombia with just one thing, let alone such a negative thing, is hurtful to many people who suffered in very direct ways throughout the Escobar era.

The TT isn't as flat as it looks so the climbs might not lose as much as predicted.

I'm listening to the rest day podcast, in case anyone needs some background "music"

They say teams had great trouble with relocating to the next stage of Pau because of accidents and fog etc. Apparently Jumbo hired helicopters even for their riders but they couldn't fly because of the fog. :D

They did make it though eventually.

Must have something to do with Thomas DeGent's tweet about getting to their hotel late. Something about maybe they should have started the stage earlier.

I agree with the Barb. I know that people mean no harm but in my opinion Pablo Escobar is the biggest monster that Colombia has seen in his history. And there is no close second. There are other criminals on other sides of the world and countries that people do not want to remember. This one is one of them for Colombia. He killed many Colombians.

Sorry if I put anybody down.

Yes, I didn't like to raise it because I am wary of not being overly sensitive, but being married to a Colombian woman I am conscious of these sensitivities. Unfortunately in many parts of the world the only thing they know about Colombia is Pablo Escobar. When I met my wife four years ago one of the things she later said she liked about me was that I was much more interested in talking to her about Nairo Quintana than Pablo Escobar.

Anyway, in terms of Stage 10, I would be surprised if any of the GC guys get within a minute of Roglic, although I am wary of saying Pogacar won't. His three time trials this year have all been pretty good and obviously his form is super.

Paddy Bevin has been open about the fact that he is targeting this stage and could podium. Frankly I wish he'd focus less on time trials, as he will rarely win them but is a very well-rounded rider with potential to win many stages from breakaways / reduced sprints.
