Shape is good, not as good as in the Tour, but still more than okay. It's more a mental than physical thing.

He's 10 minutes down so they can afford to give him some space, even if he takes say 8-10 minutes he'll never be able to compete with Lopez, Roglic, Valverde and the likes for top-5.
Maybe the guys in the lower half of the top-10 will get nervous though.

They're certainly giving him a fair bit of space at the moment...but I doubt the gap will exceed 10mins max, and some of that will be clawed back in the final...
He's definitely a threat to some of the current lower top-10 guys, but perhaps riders like Edet, Teuns & Hagen aren't really expecting to stay there, so they're not too bothered?

Well… that only works if you pronounce his name in English (ie. wrong)…
