So many weird decisions. Seemingly some sort of flat loop after the final descent on stage 10, finishing at the pass rather than the summit at Manzaneda, Ancares from the wrong side (okay, that makes sense if León is paying but it's bookended by other weak options), weak side of Leitariegos with nothing before it on a descent finish, Estranguada on an otherwise-flat stage rather than stage 20, Tornos as the penultimate climb on stage 20, and once again very low on the TT mileage (do like Madrid being a TT though). On the plus side, the Hazallanas stage is exciting, there are barely any sprint stages (not out of the question that the last full sprint is stage 5 which is insane), the terrain is more varied than it's been in recent editions and the pacing seems fine. It's very much a mixed bag - I certainly don't dislike it, but I also feel like I could have liked it a lot more if they'd been a little more ambitious and/or sensible with certain stages.

super "weird" route indeed. I would say, a lot of good medium mountain stages. For the "high" mountain stages unfortunately they still have the reflex to finish on something steep and the most dificult climb of the day in most cases.

- I don't think I have seen so little sprint stages. Stage 5 is the last chance and stage 2 and 3 are not even a walk in the park to get a full sprint.
-lot of medium mountain stages with relevance for GC
-some really weird random stuff you didn't expect following the rumours the last week. For example the estranguada in what supposed to be a sprint stage.
- a lot of stages which good potentially give ambus if teams planning some tricky strategy
- quite a hard Vuelta, not many easy stages
- a little bit to little ITT
- still to many mountain top finishes (after Cuita Negra, the 2nd Andalucia stage should have a downhill finish for example)
-Granada stage is for Vuelta standards a masterpiece, but will it be to early in the race for early attacks?

The main climbs, or at least as many as I can fit in a single post. Not sure on the stage 8 finish (it definitely isn't the one used in 2015).
