Wait, you actually think he didn't mess up tactically?
Whenever he breathes, CN is posting funny emotes and calls him funny nicknames. In hindsight its easy for armchairs like yourself to point out every mistake, but he obviously didn't want to just drag Rog on either. A very fine balancing act when Dunbar was so incredibly strong.

Mas about as expected. Great stage win for Dunbar. O'Connor better than expected with good help from Gall. Roglic looked in control throughout. Capapaz and Landa tried hard for not much gain. Roglic wins another Vuelta, Mas another podium, O'Connor looks like securing his first grand tour podium.

I've come out of this race with a new-found level of respect for Ben O'Connor the rider for his defensive rides (if not his tactical acumen chasing moves that are inconsequential early in the climbs), but also much less respect for Ben O'Connor the person, who I feel has come across very poorly at times.

Mas attacked several times and from distance in this GT

End of the day he just didn't have the strength to match Roglic and an average team.

Real Old-School display from Kern-Pharma, would've been even funnier if they had someone up there in GC.
He couldn't distance BOC, Rogla doesn't play the same game as the others.

I might not have watched all interviews but could you elaborate on the latter? I know he came off quite poorly in the Netflix show, but if he came off even worse here, that would be impressive.

Zero hindsight to it (hence why people were criticising his tactics for most of that MTF and not just after the finish), it was very clear that his refusal to pull more than 15 seconds without looking back was stopping him from both putting time into O'Connor and keeping Dunbar within striking distance, and it was just as clear that Roglic didn't have the need and Carapaz the legs to help him out. Sometimes you need to take responsibility and he failed to do so in spectacular fashion today.

Dunbar almost with some Champoussin Vuelta 2021 vibes there. Same culprit as well, i.e. Mas, because he refuses to drag Rog to the line even when O'Connor was dropped today.

Oh & the Eurosport commentators are such drama merchants. I mean 100km from the finish Carlton would have everyone believe Rog was totally screwed & his Vuelta over.
