Vingegaard has already won this one then?
It's a bit like Pog before the Tour - if Vingegaard is in form, he should walk the Vuelta GC. If not, Almeida is probably my next favourite. As an aside, I can't believe that a team like Ineos wasn't talking to Almeida before he renewed with UAE to 2028. Offer him big money and leadership at his pick of the grand tours. Surely he'd fancy a go at Tour leadership? I'm still so annoyed that he renewed with UAE.

Buddy you're not ready for what is to come this Vuelta.

It's gonna be the mythical rise of TTer/Sprinter/Ultramythical climber/GC Ganna

10 years after the rise of Tom Dumoulin, a big man shall shock the world again at the Vuelta. The man shall be bigger. The shock shall be greater.

By the way I remember some chat they might use this side of the Morredero but I guess it's not happening? Because that would actually be succesfully polishing a turd. And no it's not one of those "Red Rick is looking at MTB trails again" it's actually a narrow but well kept asphalt road.

Landa belongs with Ayuso/Carapaz. Overall I don't think it's a bad field for a Vuelta at all, if Mas wasn't out it would easily have been above last year's.
It's gonna depend in what form riders show up though. Landa was at the Vuelta last year as well. So was Almeida. Adam Yates was like a top 5 pre race favorite.

But overall the starting lists does look better than last year.

On second thought, I think you're right compared to last year.

23' had Roglic, Vingegaard, Evenepoel, Almeida, Ayuso etc.

'23 was an outlier. Or at least on paper, not with the way it played out.
See also 2011 with undercooked Nibali, J-Rod, an Igor Antón people still thought was a threat after crashing out of the lead in 2010, Scarponi melting in the heat, aging but still noteworthy Sastre and Menchov... and a GC won by Cobo ahead of a guy who, at the time, was a literal "who?", and guys like Maxime Monfort in and around the top 5.

There's a former Giro d'Italia winner and grand tour superstar on the startlist!

So Vingegaard still has to dig deep if he wants to win the 2025 Vuelta a Espana!

Otherwise we're going to see a happy panda!

Carapaz has been sick for weeks. Even EF questioned his participation.

There's also a Vuelta winner: Kuss

Let Froome go, so we can say there's a four-time Tour de France winner. 😅

So Pog is just letting Vingegaard win this? It seemed like he wasn't the guy to give out victories easily.

Miles better field than the Mickey Mouse fields in the Giro.
