Oh dear...

I'm sad to inform Gesink's injury is worse than it appears. The hole in his knee is so big, you could actually see the insides. If he can continue the Vuelta is unsure.

Very bad news:(

Really bad news.
On the most ordinary of stages, too.
Shows Grand Tours really aren't over until the fat lady finishes singing.

Did Gesink have a crash?

He sure did! Needs stitches in his knee. Mosquera also hit the ground hard & for a long time was dizzy & disoriented, having to be assisted by team mates. He seemed to recover later but will have a scan this evening to asses possible head trauma.

Roux Rules

Okay, this is how you win a breakaway. Did you see the youngest guy in the break doing all the thinking, keeping the guys focused, riding together instead of attacking each other, knowing that was their best shot at victory? Ths guy knows what he's doing.

Is there a doctor in the house?

Right about now we need one of those Kashakastanian doctors.

Damn, sucks for Gesink. Even if he survives the mountains you need sap in the legs to do a good TT and this will certainly drain something out of them. He's only on the podium with a minute on Basso and a minute-twenty on Evans. If he doesn't show up big in the TT that could be gone pretty quickly.

No respect for their colleagues indeed. Glad the peloton didn't catch the flight of the day.

I sure hope Gesink can finish this tour, it would be a major blow to crash out of the Tour and the Vuelta in the same year.

Oh, so it's OK to keep pulling when a contender's had a mechanical, but it's sneaky to keep pulling when a contender's had a fall?

Because I do remember Moerenhout pulling for the Gesink group when he got caught, to distance Evans.

Evans is a special case. He's made himself impossible with his (cycling) behaviour, and imo deserves little sympathy.
Columbia and Milram have no contenders for the GC. They have not made friends either, this way.

I was wondering when the first one would make the wrong comparison.

That was on a mountain stage, and more importantly, when Sanchez and Danielson for example, were already dropped. If Evans had a quick change, they would probably wait. But they could not afford to let Sanchez come back that way. That is logical. Also, when Moerenhout pulled, Evans came back from 1.06 to 48 seconds. So complaining against Moerenhout is really the last thing you can do.

Try again next time, with a better comparison please! Kthxbai!

It's extremely exciting to watch the peleton breathing down his neck, and a beautiful thing the escapees won a sprint stage by just a couple of bike length... bravo!!

first he picks flowers from the bouquet to give to the podium girls, then he sprays the next podium girls with the champagne given to the winner of the stage. awesome

Really sucks... didnt get to see the stage, come home and see gesink had to get 8 sticthed in his knee. However once he gets going he might be ok. Might be a painful couple of days though. (funny i had to get some sticthed yesterday too)

Hopefully he can keep with it today.

Even if people thought that, you would still show sprotsmanship to them.
