As a fan I also enjoy when riders win with panache. But loose respect of a rider because of this? It's not like Moreno is a wheelsucker by nature. He made a decision that allowed him to take a qin while using the less energy possible (remembering he his here to work for purito) He has more kick than CAS. CAS never looked like he would stop working. So Moreno hold the wheel. I can't blame him.

I want to hear from Anton. After all these years he certainly can do beautiful things on a bike. But can we coun't on him, when he's supposed to be there?

No. He was there. Saw him in the first group.
Official site has him in 23rd, where DT has Kev Seeldrayers.

23 61 COBO, Juan Jose GEO + 11''
24 148 Seeldrayers, Kevin QST + 11''

Looks like some people were expecting WAY too much from this stage.

Exactly. This is precisely the type of outcome you should expect from this type of finish in the 4th stage. Just like the 4th stage of the 2009 Giro to San Martino di Castrozza for example.

He wasn't listed to start with, good timing system.

My bad. Didn't see him at first. Guess I better start getting used to the Cobo renaissance.

indeed. The intense heat was the only thing really going for it.

Taaramae retired I think

Asthma, tour tiredness and stomach pains are way too much for a 24 year old to complete a Vuelta.

at the risk of being wrong I just don't see the guy as a real leader / contender.

In fairness, he has some very good GC results for a guy who was riding as a domestique when he racked them up.

I'm not really surprised about the fact that nothing really happened.

First mountain stage, no steep gradients and no real big favourite that's able to shred things apart. Also the prospect of plenty more MTF causes for a cautious riding style.

Nice win by Moreno. I expect him to compete for atleast top10 GC this year.

Watch out for Nieve now.

Watch out

Was almost thinking might be a good thing re Anton Bonking he helps Nieve and then after the ITT smashes up a Mountain stage for the win

Yeah, I just don't see him as the threat that some posters suggest. I can't see him ever seriously contending a GT gc tbh. I have been wrong before, just my feelings on him. I like him tho, so by all means hope he proves me wrong.

Yes. He was more excited about his third than Moreno's win.

That said, it's worth remembering that Martin has been so good in smaller races that it is exciting to see him mixing it on a GT mountain stage.

TDP is big;)

And Zoncolan 2010 showed Martin can do it on big GT stages.

That said Kreuziger and Garzelli were winning the sprint for 3rd vs Nibali Anton Scarponi on early Giro stages.

Silly. Since he insisted to ride the Vuelta. Big let down for his team now.

Yes. And more recently, Roche was winning the bunch sprint for 5th yesterday!

Yeah, it is, but you can never be prepared for illnesses, as shown by Cav and Goss. Also I'm not sure that he retired, might just be helping Moncoutie for the KOM and try a stage. Let's see if he appears in the results
