Mollema didn't have much trouble staying in the group today, he told his ds it was effortless. Kruijswijk wanted to attack but the climb was too flat (5%) for him. He did counter Nibali but then they realised the climb wasn't hard enough when the whole group was still there.
LL Sanchez was at his limit but was satisfied as it was his best mountain result at Rabobank so far.

Does the fact that Mollema was working on the front as the Rabo train disintegrated mean that Kruijswijk is the leader?

From the rabo website I guess?

Mollema was never working on the front, that was Slagter. (I don't know in what language you were watching the race, maybe the English goofed again)
Mollema was always tucked in the group.

Thanks David Harmon. Then again, the fact that I failed to notice that he got it wrong doesn't say much for my powers of perception. The Great One has a somewhat unique appearance on a bike.

N.b. highlights on Eurosport 2 now for anyone with a job who couldn't watch earlier.

I know that doesn't apply to most of you loafers.

A bad day for the competition for three of the jerseys with Anton, Cavendish & Taaramae all having nightmares.

I would have liked to have seen Wiggins try to join Nibali's "attack", but it was over before it started so there was no real opportunity. It looked like Nibali just did that as Anton was just about making contact with the rear of the peloton at that point. I think Nibali and Van den Broeck will have the most pleasant dreams tonight.

Well I don't easily recognize lesser known foreigners either. For example when Froome was leading today I would never have known it's Froome if the commentators didn't tell me.
I recognize Dutch/Belgian/well known riders easily, because I know them well and know their style on the bike, their facial expressions, etcetera.
Just like British people probably recognize their countrymen easily. And we all recognize most stars easily. But then it stops.

I don't expect an international crowd to recognize a neo-pro like Slagter or even Bauke Mollema. Although Mollema has a very recognizable style, he looks like a bird repeatedly falling off a tree. Everytime you see him climb you think he's totally at his limit, and then after the race he tells you he wasn't trying. That's mollema's style :p

You seriously Nibali's little acceleration named "attack". He gained maybe 10 meters, yeah, it was surely so hard attack...

Most of the reaction was because of a 100 post discussion re Nibali not attacking on mountains ever

Dani Moreno rocks the mullet.

Either he's ahead of the style curve or just doesn't care.

Blimey! I expected nothing from Sky in this Vuelta (and thought I was right after the TTT). Seems like they might actually be having a go....

Just the usual. D_T mocking the rivals of his own favorites, pointing out their lack of ability. The mocking later backfires as usual, leaving him on the defensive, getting hurt and upset like a little child..

This time it didnt even involve his own favs failing to achive simultaneously (as I recall it..). That would've been several times worse..

On the stage: It looked very hot out there.. Could've played a factor in the low amount of attacks.

Why did they put Froome on the front in the last 2k ?

Pardilla could

I wish it was true. He was 3rd in Volta a Portugal last year but he has no track record in 3 week races with the big boys, so we'll see how far he goes.

I know but he has several good results in 1 week stage races.. maybe this time, now he doesn't have others to work for.

And Karpets shouldn't be messed with, he's a professional Russian.

Be careful, the bolded statement puts Pardilla in the same league of Tony Martin ;)
