There's a heck of a lot of climbing time left to pull back the group if they really want.

I fear for Wiggins today. Just a feeling.

Unless Busche deliberately took it very easy yesterday as he was in the bus with Cavendish before the last climb I don't see how he can be considered almost the best climber simply based on current form

Rohregger isnt the climber he used to be, for example he missed his record at Kitzbuehler Horn by 3 minutes this year...i remember reading in an interview that he had to take lots of antibiotics in recent time and isnt recovering as well anymore because of that.

We can only presume that his team wouldn't have sent him into the break on a mountain stage if he'd really been dying, as opposed to taking it easy, yesterday. Then again, cycling teams make strange decisions sometimes.

Rendell says Cavendish is the biggest thing in cycling with the exception of Alberto Contador.

Debatable, though he is one of the biggest no doubt.

pretty average group i think.

7.20 -- 45-50km ? remaining. could be a close thing.

They could easily lose 5 minutes + on the climb.

I hope it doesn't last.

How many km are they now?

There's a decent live ticker on the Vuelta site, that says they've gone 120 km so far, 50 to go. The lead group is on the penultimate cat3 climb at the moment.

Movistar doing some decent turns now.

Down to just a bit over 7 minutes. These things are impossible to judge, some days groups like this survive with only 3 minutes at the bottom, because the pack soft pedals. 4-6 minutes is probably the zone of uncertainty.

Sean Kelly was reading your post too! He said 3mins.

On the Ventoux in 2009 Garate and Martin survived with 1m30 because of the favorite stop and go battle.

It all depends on how they ride. if Movistar or some other strong team rides a very strong pace on the mountain the whole time it will be hard to stay ahead.
They have a better chance if the favorites attack early and then start looking

Here is my traditional question to those of you, who watch more cycling than me and should know better:

Who do you guys think is the best climber out of the seven leaders (hence most likely to win the stage, if the break survives to the finish)?
