Bardet is in. He does not appear on the list.

I don't expect to see someone that was on the Tour de France winning . I may be wrong.

He has been in for some time, but apparantly won't target the GC since he feels a bit tired. Same for Majka and probably Simon Yates, but that should be about it.

Somebody on this forum, I haven't looked for the article. He was supposed to have said he was pretty tired after Tour preparations and such.

Uran is hardly going for GC ...is he ?

Wonder why some Tour GC riders are racing if not doing GC...why not rest and target Lombardia or worlds, etc ??
The Vuelta remains the best preparation for Worlds / Lombardia imo

Even with a TDF right before it? It seems like an heavy load of fatigue to me!

“I think we have a well-balanced squad to support Rafal but also to go for stage wins. Rafal will be our GC leader with the goal to finish in the top five. But we also want to win a stage, and I think there will be chances for Buchmann and Konrad in some stages.” – Ralph Denk, Team Manager

What a surprise (not). Always the same story with some riders.

The last man to win the Worlds after riding the Vuelta was Gilbert 5 years ago.
I'm happy to stick with my opinion for now

Sagan raced a whole Vuelta week in 2015.

And being run over by a moto in stage 8 was what made him win the Worlds

So? He still used it as a prep race anyway.

Sagan could have got the training effect of 8 days of racing anywhere else, for instance doing the Tour of Britain, as Kwiato did in 2014. Last year Sagan raced 11 days between Tour and WC: Plouay, Quebec, Montreal, European Champs and Eneco. So the fact the he did 8 Vuelta stages in 2015 is irrelevant.
Hushovd completed 17 Vuelta stages in 2010. Gilbert and Evans finished the race the years they won the Worlds.
If all you need is around 10 race days between mid August and WC there's hardly any difference between doing them in the Vuelta or anywhere else. If you need or want more than 15 race days, there is probably no better way to get them than riding the Vuelta; but even in that case with the current race calendar there are alternatives.

A strong nine-rider line-up has been selected with an eye on the future, as well as to support Team Sunweb’s exploration of GC possibilities. The Vuelta a España will have five Grand Tour debutants in Team Sunweb’s line-up; including Søren Kragh Andersen, Chris Hamilton, Lennard Hofstede, Lennard Kämna and Sam Oomen. Next to their contributions to the team’s goal, the focus will be on the long-term development of these talented riders. The extremely young team will be complemented by experienced road captain Johannes Fröhlinger as well as climber Warren Barguil, who won two stages in the 2013 Vuelta and more recently the KOM jersey at this year’s Tour de France. A key member of the team’s successful Giro d’Italia squad, Chad Haga completes the team alongside Wilco Kelderman.

I didn't expect Barguil to be there after leaving the team and also riding a TdF of crits.

I hear they're expecting this guy to make a Big Bang in the peloton.

I think it depends a lot on rider type and the worlds type what kind of training impulse you need.

So the Vuelta 2017 will stand at the start of the Grand Tour campaign of Lennard Kämna which by the end of his career will consist of at least 5 wins while he will be regarded as the second coming of Indurain.

P.S. I forgot the 'obviously'.
