That is one thing I wish ASO would do, put the same climb in twice. So you rode the Tourmalet once? HTFU and ride it a second time bitch.

could anyone email me on skippi@ausi.com or twitter.com/skippydetour and tell me why
cadel gets 10sec penalty supposedly for drafting m/bike, did he know the rider or ask for the help?
mosquero gets 10sec penalty for taking bidon from the roadside, did he know the helper/punter
did valverde get a penalty for the variety of pushes that he was given on the ascents.
did valverde's team get a penalty for 3 riders outside the time limits on saturday .

can anyone tell me how the 15th stage a relative flat stage have a winner at 40kpm and the peleton come in at 25mins behind considering the first 100km was slightly downhill. were the racers on a go slow ? i watched eurosport.de and was unable to understand how they were going up an incline at 18kph at some points of 3-5%.

paralympian athletes could have won todays etappe, michael milton, vignati, macchi to name a few!

Maybe you'd understand if you knew the pace they rode the first hour (49km), plus the three mountain stages they had last weekend. Perfectly understandable pace by the pack.

Anyway: Congrats to Boom, been watching for years, in the field, in Olympia's tour, this guy was made for great things. I believe this only just the beginning for him.

Rabobank is going to have a strong, strong team next year, the Dutch must be really happy. They've got a proper GC contender, Dutch, a day racer, twice former world champion, Dutch, and a sprinter, former world champion, Dutch. Theo Bos may need some time in the peloton first, though. Whatever happens in this Vuelta, it's all useful for Gesink, too. You have to say it really was a shame he missed the TDF, although he might even have denied Wiggins his British record placing.

Gesink would probably have lost too much time in the TT to be a threat to Wiggins.

In terms of long time trials (not taking short ones here), he is a tiny bit better than Vincenzo Nibali. (and in climbing a bility also better). So he would have been around 7th/6th spot, I THINK.. but you can never know. We will never know. It just didn't happen!

Next year another shot :) I wonder what Armstrong thinks when Gesink rides away from him and denies him a podium spot (behind Contador and A. Schleck) :D

I have been waiting for Boom to due something this Vuelta. With Gesink and Boom on the same team in a few years Rabobank will have a dangerous team.

Surprised none of valverde's challengers had a go. Their not going to win by waiting for valverde to have a bad day.

+1 and add bauke mollema aswell.Does anyone see the similarities between gesink and another dutch climber from the 80s in gert jan theunisse?I hope my spelling is right?

I'm starting to think it's probably over. They needed to make Stage 18 or 19 finish with a big, sharp climb. As is, it's not too likely we'll see any big splits there, but it is possible.

There could however be a shuffling near the top after the ITT, but I don't know that 27k is going to do enough.

On the contrary. I think we need something different and stage 19 will give us that. If so many mountin finishes haven't dropped Valverde, another one probably won't either.

The only other chance for "something different" would be a mountain TT, and Gesink and Basso are notorious for sucking at those.

Gesink sucking at mountain TT's?

He has ridden only 2, 1 in the vuelta last year, when he was dead (because it was his first 3 week race), and finished 9th... And 1 in the Tour l'Avenir where he finished top 10 I believe. (Clement won in front of Duenas).

You're answering me on this forum? Are you drunk? :p You tend to avoid me.

Those two results support my thesis, I'd say ;)
