I live in London so it's not the best for riding. This winter I decided to just do shorter rides around Highgate/Hampstead but just climbing most of the time. Last week I decided to try one of my longer routes and it really hurt. The flat stuff ain't so easy. 5 rides later and I really feel great. The progress in such a short time has been excellent. After that first longish ride I thought it would be at least a month before I got to where I am now. The weather IMO can really play a psychological part of your training/riding.
What do you think.

Wind ... the damn wind.

Admittedly i live in Norfolk which is mostly pan flat so the wind whips in off the North Sea. Has been particularly bad this year so far. Good for the legs long term ... short term its exhausting. Should be in better condition when the nice weather hits sometime around 20th July ;).

Ye ha ,,,its been windy in London and outer. But the cold edge has gone "no oversocks" and its all bit more sunny and bright just makes riding and having a few balls out efforts more fun. I went flying past these 3 giant posh guys who were riding to "Twickers" Great stuff.
Last tues we had winds around 25/ 30mph. I did not ride that day as it seriously could blow me off my bike
but the nicer weather I find inspiring. Plus no bike cleaning needed

Wind must be the anthem right now. Today was sustained 20 mph...gusts were worse. Only did 20 miles...didn't want to deal with it. In the winter I take every opportunity I get to ride. With better weather I can be more picky. :)

Regarding the op. I definitely agree. The "sensations" are always better for me in good weather. For me, it is very demoralizing to go out in cold conditions. I can even handle rain as long as it is warm. Definitely glad spring is here.
