Well Well Well.what an awesome cycling event.Having just arrived home after 5 sunny(yes i said sunny)days of the best organized event in Australia.I would like to say thankyou to all the locals that gave up their roads so as we could see this Championship on home soil. The racing was excellent and all the fans behaved really well.Spending most of my time on top of the second climb on the Road course, that hill was brutal, especially 11 times.Congratulations to Hushovd,Brescel and Davis, with extra thanks to The Belgium riders,The Dutch and Cadel, all making this race one to remember..Can,t wait till Copenhagen next year....

So you weren't in Geelong on Wednesday then. I'd have hardly called freezing cold wind and occasional glimpses of the sun interspersed with torrential downpours a sunny day!! (Thursday was pretty bleak too... at least it didn't rain though). :p

edit: Real sunny...

Hi thanks for your reply I was hoping someone would. As for riding a bike well er I'm just getting back into it. So a lycra racer no certainly not yet, still lots and lots of work before that would be anywhere near a reality and that would only be as a senior. I'm on the wrong side of 40 even though I feel like half of that. But these events, clubs etc if I could find out more I'd be interested. At the very least I know clubs always need spare hands at times of competitions. I have been involved in that way before for other things. So any further ideas would be welcomed. Cheers Jill.

Hi Blaxland, speaking as one of the residents affected I just want to say thank you all so much for sharing your sport with us I'm hooked. Loved your attitude to competition and the time you took to explain things to us novices who really had no idea, but were lovin every moment of it anyway. Just wish it could have gone on forever!! :(

The crowd of several thousand at Queen's Park (bottom of second climb) went off! The atmosphere was awesome and I was delighted to share the experience with the crowd.

The crowd varied from:
the sports mad Victorians (some with no knowledge of the sport but plenty of enthusiasm)
to the cyclists wearing MTB gear, to those in full RR outfits
to kids, Mums, Dads, Grandparents.

Whatever the case, all added to the colour, noise and full on experience.:)

PS @Symphonic how are you publishing your photos?
Hi JA. Tri

Goddam!! the worlds were awesome!

all road races were so well done and well ridden. The mens race was one of the best one day races ive ever seen and thts sayin something.

I tipped Thor 3 days previous but they never showed him till the last 500m so i thought it might be an aussie victory.

Weather was perfect. fans excellent. Racing: first class. Just wish i coulda got down there.
