Is it true you can buy Leffe in the Netherlands for a euro or two? This is a claim by an American dude at my Beijing hostel who was doing his post grad there recently.
In Belgium, it's about 2,5 - 3,5 for a Leffe.

But next week I have a party planned with Leffe (tap) for 1 euro
I'm not a big Leffe fan, but for that price, i won't complain :p

What do you guys pay for quality-beers?

I think the most expensive+good beer I ever bought was a pint of Viking four or five years ago in Iceland. It worked out around €17 and it was just a regular pub. Everything was initimdatingly expensive there at that time, though I love the place and have been a couple of times.

I'll pay up to about €5.50 for a 25/33cl glass of good tap beer down at Moeder Lambic in Brussels. Those guys really know how to look after beer and the "little extras" you get like the plattekaas or the finger bowls of malted barley just make my day.

Off the shelf (rather than in a bar) that I can remember in recent times it was probably one of the special editions by Brouwerij De Struise like a Cuvée Delphine. Not the easiest stuff to find, so it can be quite steep. Say, €2.70 for a 33cl.

You can't buy alcohol in the supermarket im Australia (typing with one hand is a nightmare), although in the local liquor shop, I can get a six-pack of Grolsch for $15 AUD.

€17??? I would really never pay that for a beer...
You can buy 48 jupillers for that in a store :)

Personally, i don't think any beer is worth more than €4 in a pub, even 3,60 might be the limit. Of course, that's the poor college student speaking :)

Granville Island winter ale. :D
Tasty vanilla but something about the rest of GI beer line turns me off. They have some nasty aftertaste to me that I cannot identify and thus I generally try to stay away from them (choise of hops or something else?).

Thumbs up to Howe Sound Father John's Winter Ale. Big bottle. Big enjoyment.

Also thumbs up to Bass Pale Ale. I am sure it is prolific elsewhere but I am having a hard time tracking it down on the West Coast in Cda. Second thumbs up to Anchor Steam Ale out of San Fran.

Worst beer I have ever consumed was some coffee flavoured beer. I don't drink coffee and should have known better.

Now for a random comment/twist: Bud. I have had it in the USA and didn't care for it. The Cdn domestic version is brewed by Labatt's, which (for me) is a good, cheap beer.

I had this beer the other night, at 8.5%. It's not cheap though, a box of it costs $200! (FTR I only bought a single bottle)

Two thumbs up. Have you tried Stone's 09.09.09 (Vertical Epic series)?

When I was in China I spoke to a guy who is from Minneapolis and it turns out they have a bar there that has more then 150-200 beers on tap. I want to visit this place.

Particularly San Diego area. North County is home to some fantastic craft breweries (brewery's??)

I'm not talking about regular pils, but about trappist or other special beers of course...
For a regular 25cl pils, standard price apparently has become 1,50 or 1,60. Even 1,80 isn't an exception. And I've heard the price will go up again after the summer.
In my local jeugdhuis, it's €1,20. I can live with that :D

I drank a delirium recently and I surprisingly liked it. Was actually a lot better than I remembered. It's rather sweet, but I don't really mind that once and a while in a beer, especially since it's also a bit 'spicy' at the same time...

Anyone heard of Exit 4?
It's from a micro brewery in New Jersey, U.S.A.
It won the beer snob's taste contest in the local paper.
I think the alcohol content was 9.5 %.
I didn't much care for it. It tasted like it was trying to be too many things.
Too many flavors at once. I think it's quite pricy to boot.
