Actually TeamSkyFans might be right. Maybe the Vuelta is the right move to start. But I am Colombian and I have been waiting to see his performance in European pro-peloton for a long time and I am eager to see him racing in a GT very soon.

Yeah I would say the Vuelta would be the best for him. Give him time to settle in.

Yes. It's not as if anyone is saying that he should be kept in small races for a year. But the Giro will be just a few months after he moves to a big team and moves continent. The Sky Tour team is going to have two massive focuses and in the extremely unlikely event that he made the team, he'd be there strictly to fetch bottles and keep other guys out of the wind. The Vuelta gives him a chance to potentially do something for himself, and plenty of time to adapt. Really, if I was managing him, that's what I'd want for him.

I'd say Vuelta. Gives him time to settle in and become part of the team. The Vuelta could also be a confidence booster if he performs well, going to the Giro and tanking might affect his self-confidence.

Besides, everyone knows how much Cavendish enjoys the Giro and with all those flat stages I wouldn't be surprised if Sky take a team replicating HTC and assign Lofkvist or Sivtsov as their GC hope after they've done their part in the train.

henao has always put the hype on himself and he doesn;t care. that will never be the problem.

also he will adapt very easily, look at betancourt in his first year at age 21 winning emillia and riding well in lombardy, that's within a year for a guy with less talent and 2 years younger. henao will be there from the get go, like he was in utah and colorado. betancourt and henao are very comparable riders.

i think you are underevaluating betancourt.
he is very strong , he has to learn how to train and the work ethics to be a top rider, but he was very impressive in the giro bio and at 22 he run a more than decent giro and won emilia.
he has great margin in my opinion.

i do not think that betancourt is way inferior to the golden trio.
remember that among the golden trio, uran was considered the more complete and adapt to the european scene.

henao will do very well, but he looks very weak in ITT and he will have to work a lot on that aspect.

and he has proven exactly that thus far

Giro to learn, Vuelta to perform. Might be expecting too much. :p

I would say that may well be the plan for Kennaugh (I know he did the Giro last year, but I think that was just to ride, this year he'll have some more concrete role). I think that Henao will be given a bit of time to settle in and do the Vuelta. I guess these two will be the main backup to Froome.

I think so yes.

I do think he could ride the giro. He is 24, and has experience in long races. I doubt the transition will be as easy as ryo believes tho.

Tommy L as well. Rogers might along with Porte. ( domination of TTT if there is one )

Would be a pretty good team if there is a TTT in the Vuelta. But that's what I thought this year . I guess the fifth rider won't go absent without leave next year though;).

He wouldn't be given the opportunity to attack at the Vuelta as Froome will want all the help he can get. Giro is the best option.

in his first GT maybe the best thing for him would be as a helper. Even with a Froome type in his team, Henao attacking could be a tactical move the team could use to their advantage in several ways.
