I've seen magpies but never been dive-bombed by them. Red-winged blackbirds are another story.

Live wild animals I've seen on road rides: prairie dogs, golden eagles, elk, mule deer, fox, coyote, and a lost duckling. When I used to ride in the woods I once stopped to watch a bull snake swallow a horned toad.

You'll find the Australian magpie is a completely different and species and unrelated to the US bird of the the same name. The only similarity is the colouring. Ours have a body about a twenty centimetres long and are quite territorial during their breeding season.

No cool animals here in Belgium. I saw a fox and a few wild boars, but not on training rides. On training rides just cats and dogs.

Are those animals cool? :p

I never go on training rides (because I'm simply a fan and not a cyclist at all) but I always see a chicken along the side of the road.

Edit: And all sort of dead animals. Especially toads, during spring.

A global albeit minor infestation...commonly not on bikes (although there are some). Closely related to galahs.

4 days ago during my ride I saw 4 tigers and a lion; but it was into a Zoo near Calpe (Spain). :D

On Sunday there were 2 chevreuil (roe deer) that burst out of the fields and across the road about 5 meters in front of us. It is hunting season and they were probably scared by nasty men with guns.

Lizards freak me out for a second because I think they're snakes. Also dogs (and their owners) are as dumb as **** and look at you with a dumb expression on their face despite how many times you ring the bell.

Nothing special, like lions or bears, but...

I like watching those kamikaze guys while riding along the fields.
Beautiful how they float through the sky or even stand still, to then hit their target.

Often you can see those guys down there, running through the fields.
They are real hectic freaks and often frighten me. :D
wanted to catch one, but granddad said they do not taste not really good.

To my surprise, I saw those Alpakas standing on a farmer's enclosure, together with some goats.
Was irritated first, but they are ok and didn't spit on me.

Well, obviously I've seen those, I live behind corn fields and stuff, but isn't really interesting to mention :p

Funny that you mention it, as I was riding in the snow recently and saw some paw imprints. Bored as I was, I decided to follow it and a km further I came across a hare

Besides the usual array of squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and dogs...

Very common: Cows, Horses, Sheep, Turkeys, Deer, Hawks
Less common: Beaver, Porcupine, Black Bears, Bobcats
Much less common: Mountain Lions

Occasionally: Bison, Elk, Emu Goat, Llama, Ostrich, Reindeer, Water Buffalo, Yak, Zebra.

Totally serious.

But that's only when I ride by an exotic animal farm. :p
It's right on the edge of a nice 5K climb/descent depending on the approach route.

There seem to be a lot more llamas showing up in the farmer's pastures around here. They still look pretty strange as you're riding by...:)

I do enjoy the large birds of prey...many hawks and ospreys, and if you know where to look there are some bald eagles. Amazing and large!
