I think he'd only go if he felt he had a chance of a good result. So he must have reconned the route multiple times and feel that he's in great shape. He's one of the few riders (along with MdvP) who could potentially follow Pog when he puts the hammer down. So I think he has a the potential for top five or higher. I suppose the one question is how he finds the actual racing, if that makes sense. Sometimes he seems to struggle in races where there is a lot of fighting for position.

I do not get the positioning issues outside Top 20 perspective. Nils Politt is horrible at positioning and has zero explosivity for the short hills, yet he‘s been 3rd and 5th here before. If he‘s caught behind based on positioning, Remco can so easily move up when others are tired and attack or pace to move up one group. Also, he isn‘t badly positioned that often, it isn‘t 2021 anymore. In the final of RVV, positioning is all about legs.

Because it’ll be stuck behind an attack or crash that does him in. It’s happened multiple times these past few seasons unfortunately.

I think the importance of positioning as well as Evenepoels issues with positioning are heavily overstated.

The only place where it's an absolute must is the 2nd Oude Kwaremont, and there the top guys will often close a large gap by themselves.

I think he's going to take the victory in a sprint. As long as he is well positioned the 2nd time they do Oude Kwaremont, after that it's much less hectic and smooth sailing in the wheel of the favourites. With how explosive he looked in Catalunya he might win the sprint.

Sprint against who? Beating MVP is very unlikely for him and for Pogacar. Unless you think Remco will drop MVP (but recently you said MVP won't be dropped by Pog and will win).

I guess you are kidding but anyway Pogacar's pace would be too brutal for them. I can imagine a scenario where Evenepoel (initially dropped by Pog and maybe MVP) can claw back on a flattish section if he's close enough.
Mathieu will be the last one on Pogi's wheel

If his sprint was good he would have beaten Godon at least once. He didn't. He'd be an underdog in a sprint against literally anyone who we consider to be possibly sprinting for the win

Yeah, could happen. Not the first time MVDP loses a sprint after a hard race

So you favoured him against Pogacar but not necessarily against Evenepoel. Interesting. I think you're acting emotionally here.
Anyway, MVP would take this scenario (of sprinting against two smaller man) before the race start, that I'm sure of.

You are severely underestimating Godon
I don't think so. There's no way Godon or Gilmore were more tired than Remco at the finish of stage 7 and they both comfortably beat him. Which tells me that his sprint really isn't THAT good

Don't care where he finishes as long as theres a point where he's yelling at pog or mvdp to work

I think by yelling at Van der Poel he can help him win actually (by catching Pog). This is the biggest impact he can have in the race IMO (but only if they are very close behind after the last climb).

Remco yelling at VDP during the race, that i would love to see. VDP should get of his bike and lamp him for being a brat 🤣
