Just using common sense:

What's the best preparation for the Vuelta?

- Riding the Tour for nine days then crash out with a punctured lung, fractured ribs and a broken shoulder blade.

Or

- Riding the Tour out and after that compete in the Vuelta as well.

Plus the Vuelta takes place earlier this year compared to last year. I'm confident he can top ten at both. Not sure how his time trial will be though...

I would not mind for JVDB to get in the top 5 in either TDF or the Vuelta 9 though it probably will not happen ) with all the ITTers in the TDF and all the mountain goats in the Vuelta.
Everyone thought he would do well last year so hopefully he can prove some of us right.
