"The name? That of the principal sponsor. Its probability? High. You will know it in July. Even if it is hard to convince sponsors to give money with the economic crisis and news of doping"

Anyone care to start a guessing game before July ???

How about Team IOU?

Apparently, the money supposed to be used as the UCI "bank guarrantee" for the year's wages is already gone and has to be paid back.
If they didn't pay, riders contracts could be null and void.

What am I offered for Bertie Contador?

I don't get the Astana bashing. They are no different than any other Pro Tour team. Do you all say the same of Quick Step? Or Saxo Bank? Maybe I just don't get the joke. (I think they ALL are enhanced)

By the way, you may be calling them the team with the Giro, Tour and Vuelta winners by the end of the year.

I neither love or hate Armstrong and Astana, but the above statement is a strong likelihood.

There is no bashing going on here - this is based on journalistic accuracy (if there ever was an oxymoron) - where the Astana riders have not been paid and the likelihood of the team collapsing. Then, based on the announcement that LA wants a team, that is what started this thread. Pure clean guessing game - that's all !!

I understand what you are saying, but to deny there is a definite anti-Astana bias here is turning a blind eye. I don't see threads referring to Bjarne Riis and his Sixty Bank team or Patrick Lefevre and Quick Syringe (lame names I know, but those were on the fly). I get a kick out of some of the names being thrown out there for Astana, but understand, I don't think any of them are doing this on bread or water. It just gets old reading fifty threads on why we should be after Armstrong and Astana and hoping they get caught. I hope all the dopers get caught, be it Armstrong or Boonen or Joe Shmoe the domestique for Team Barely Making It.

Ha, I even own an Astana kit. I mean, common, a Kazakh team, named after their capital city, while riders are donned in the Kazakh national colours, including the smiling sun... That's got to be retro in a couple of years...

On top of that, the anomaly of having some of the best paid riders on the roster, while the country has barely outgrown state socialism, or better, the team is/was basically funded by state owned companies, that just asks for ridicule. And IMO, even more after I saw the ToC, when lots of Americans spectators were cheering for a socialist/Kazakh team, that currently employs a number of 'popular' US riders... haha

The name game is just good old fun, so why don't you join in...

I like the Joe shmoe for team barely making it bu I agree to some extent this is one of the most ant-Lance-Astana forum's but i kinda like it especially when there is an extremely pro-lance poster, but as I said the joe Shmoe pretty funny
