What would this Tour have been without the two V's

Voeckler brilliant again. love him or hate him he's been great to watch although I was screaming at the T.V for Jens to beat him on stage 10. An agonising slow motion finish for that one but great entertainment.

Haven't reallt noticed Vino that much but respect for the breakaways the last few days.

There really are a rather alarming number of "V"s.

Vino, VDB, TJVG, Valverde, Voeckler, Voigt, etc.

And every single one of them has done something at least a little exciting...

That was just off the top of my head.

That's not counting Vorgonov, Vanendert, Velits, the other Velits, Vande Velde, Valls Ferri, Vichot, Vanotti, and Van Summeren. And among the dropouts are Van Hummel, Veelers, and Vigano. That's 18 starters with last names starting in 'V'.

Well those haven't quite done as much... VDV was a great domestique for Ryder in the Giro? and Valls i'm surprised hes not in better form. he should be doing well/climbing better.

Couldn't agree more, saved the Tour from total mediocrity .. This should be a wake up call to the organisers that if you get one hugely expensive group of riders who control a race from start to finish, with minimal tactics other than to squash any break of significance and gain tim win the TT, then you'll get more of this year's Tour... And I just read that Tinkoff wants a team "just like Sky" oh boy, if that's the case, I won't be losing any sleep watching the Tour newt year..

It´s not what he means, and besides with a Contador you can always be sure of attacks, no matter how strong a team he got.
He just needs to be protected on the flat and untill the bottom of the final climb, the rest he takes care of him self.
It´s nothing like the tju tju SKY train, that´s why he´s the KING.

Vino was an example of a guy past his use by date, despite admittedly his best efforts.

Tommy V on the other hand should run for President!!! I love the guy.

I surely hope so, I didn't find the article to re-read it, but yes, I'm sure he'll have a top notch team around him, Riis has a great talent for sniffing the good ones out, and get Alberto started on a hill and let him go. Personally I think he'll blitz the Vuelta but next year's Tour I reckon will be epic.

Time to retire? He's 40, he broke his hip last year and he was in the break every day for the last week, often being with the best (4th out of 28 for example in one stage).

He's showing he's still up there, not that he needs to retire.

Voigt can be mentioned too in this topic, by my allowance. He's the only Shack rider I noticed this Tour.
One of their riders did wear the yellow jersey for a week...

Of course it's amazing that Vino even made it to the Tour, and his level has been above what you could expect, but still it's nowhere near the old Vino.

I think Tinkoff meant a team that could compete all year round, have good support and training methods.
