There Are so many races during the all year in italy! some of them Are really really prestigious and many others don't have the value and the respect of their history. Some of these races were really important in the past and i dont lime the fact that sometimes most of teams dont race or send there a weak team. PS: as you may notice i like to create polls and discuss with all you!!

For me it's a toss up between the two monuments MSR and Lombardia. But I voted Lombardia because I like the route a little better and like the scenery better. MSR is great because it signifies the starte of a new season. Lombardia is bitter-sweet as it the last big race of the season.

I have voted Lombardia. A nice way to end the season and you usually always get the newly crowned WC at the race. One of my favourite memories is Paolo Bettini winning just a couple of weeks after his brother died. San Remo is unique because of the distance as well as the late flurry of attacks on the Poggio, and one day Gilbert will win this.

A lot of the one day races that dabaideschbi listed in the poll are pretty good. You always get a challenging course, a good field, and for mine, races that are under-rated and don't get the attention that they deserve.

MILAN SAN-REMO!

There is no better race! Its the first serious race of the year and everyone wants to win it, I mean if they're a true racer. The technical route is the top in that regard and the dangers just as high and much like Paris-Roubaix, the riders show up year after year knowing all to well what is in store for them and not one protest! :D

I like Milano San Remo, because it is the only monument that can be won by any sort of rider, and every year about 50 riders have the chance of winning it .

Milano - San Remo.
It's called "La Classicissima" for a reason. Your overall palmarès may be grand (Cipollini), or it may be non-existing (Gabriele Colombo); but winning this puts you in the history books.

The first really big classic of the season, I look forward to it with great anticipation. Various types of riders are capable of winning, and that makes it interesting (even when it ends in a sprint, it's between only 40-50 guys) - and an edition like this year will stand for the ages.

And this is one of the races that riders treat with the utmost respect. I read an article about Diego Caccia's breakaway last year. He said there that when his break was caught (about 30-40 km out), he "quit". Only that didn't mean he climbed into the team car: He (and all his companions) still finished the race, after being in a 250 km break. 17 minutes down, but they finished. Chapeau.

For me it's also Milano-Sanremo.

I don't really like the race that much, but I always find myself looking forward to it so much and that's why I prefer it over Lombardia.

Lombardia clearly is a more beautiful race and I enjoy watching it more, but it is held at the end of the season, shortly after the worlds. The contrast with the epicness of the event that is the worlds always makes it less exciting for me.

For these reasons I feel like I'm less emotionally involved with Lombardia and therefore have to go with MS.

+1

It's maybe the classic that changed the least over the years. And it's one of the few races where in 95% of the times you don't know who's going to win with 1k to go.

It still has the honour of really opening the classics season.

It's full of iconic images (the narrow streets of the Poggio, the rocky cliffs of the Capi, the passage through Imperia etc.).

It's maybe my favorite race of the season.

It would be Montepaschi if the field was better. So the winner is MSR.

It's a spectacular looking race which ushers in my favourite 5 weeks of the calendar. To be honest I lose interest somewhat after I get back from my summer holidays in early August, and spend as much time looking at the transfer rumours for the following year as I do the races themselves. So however great and beautiful Lombardia is, I just can't summon the enthusiasm for it.
