Australians, from what I can gather, used to be funny. They stopped about the time they took mortgages seriously.

I think it was around the time we became materially "aspirational".

The funniest TV show I have seen in recent times is "Flight of the Conchords", so that is a vote for the Kiwis (although I have already voted Brits, so I guess it doesn't count :p)

Witth the poll question, are the americans up there because they are good at intentionally being funny or they are up there becauset hey are unintentionally funny as they are funny to laugh at (like phil liggett) ?

The only people who have no votes are the dutch so i guess they must be as funny as water.

As long as you don't forget that the funnier they are, the bigger their life's disaster. It is documented but I don't think it is fully understood, that real violent psychotic upbringings breed, either the same child as the adult responsible, or some times a jet fuelled comedian, who can only ever look to the funny side, once the alternative view is observed, the, for one night only, rope trick, can hit the stage. There are many mixes for the brew, but emotional deprivation and the general undermining of the child, make for good audience figures.

Remember that your daddy has a time limit, he needs to beat his version of sense into you, before you get to big for him and reverse the process, while mother is busily working up the girls, to temper mature tantrums. Family is a wonderful thing to teach an escaping illusionist the ropes.

You mean the 70's, right? All those shows were on their hundredth rerun in the 90s.

No, I mean the 90s. If he was stuck in the 70s then that would leave out both cheers and Seinfeld for example so the era where all those shows would be in focus at the same time would be the 90s eventhough some would be through reruns.
