Who Do YOU think would be the best mod?

Ok - I've left the mod squad. Been gone a while now.

But I have a question. And, this thread is to get your response. Once I've got a bunch of responses, I'm going to put up a poll. Keep in mind - this is totally meaningless and unofficial. I have no official standing. None. Remember that.

But I want to know who YOU think would be the best mod. Pick anybody. Pick BPC, I don't care. But whatever names you put up that I like? I'll put that name in my poll.

So, who would be a great mod? Dr Mas? Ebandit? ChrisE? Horsinabout? thehog? Amsterhammer?

Of course, you COULD tell us WHY, also. That might help persuade other people to your choice!

Let the games begin . . .

Alpe...
He is pretty neutral, and he does it cool. Not too much suspensions (if any) + he leaves some "off topic" posts in there. I guess he only gets upset if posts are too harsh.
In short: He is the perfect mod...

Hiero, shouldn't this be in the "About the forum" section?

You should ask S'Bison to move it. I think it would get more responses there.

No, because I am no longer a mod. But don't nitpick - come up with names.

AMENDED: Ok - if the first 2 responders think this should be moved - and a mod agrees - then mod, please move this thread to "About the Forum"

Thanks for the input!

In the meantime, I will give my 2c.

Posters like Libertine Seguros, hrotha, and Dr. Mas would be some of the names that spring to mind. I don't think any of them have agendas one way or the other and are some of the most fair minded on here. They have their opinions but I think they would come down the middle on any dispute between posters on the forum. Roundabout would be another decent shout.

Having said that, I don't think either of them would want the role judging by what Zam said in the "about the forum" section that they had no interest in the role.

One new mod added won't change things at the moment, it's needs at least 3/4 new ones on to what we have and share the work load. Watching S'Bison(doing a good job) currently moderating the majority of the board and what he has to put up with, would be a big turn off to anyone putting their name forward. I think Eshnar as things stand, said he was busy moving so it's understandable we don't see him as much now.

BTW Foxxy, Alpe is already one. Hiero is interested in new names.

Then I would pick "The sceptic". For fun reasons only...
... and "Master 50". He would shut down the clinic, thus solving the problems to find new mods. ;)

Yeah, foxxy, I missed seeing your mention of Alpe 1st time. Sorry. But he already is. Still - good to hear you'd still vote for him.

At this point - I'm not interested so much in "if they are interested". That is not, entirely, the point. Not to be totally disregarded, but not quite the point at this time.

Remember, someone more famous than myself said: sheep get the leadership they deserve. Then we also have Christopher Hitchens saying "I am not a sheep" - with which I would disagree - but since we have a "famous" resident poster who apparently greatly admires the deceased - well - suffice to say that those who follow the example of the black sheep are still sheep.

I think it is time to take the pulse - to see if there IS a pulse - since the forum has died so many deaths.

Let me relate a little exemplary tale. Take a classroom full of people. Put a jar full of beans in front of them. Make sure your classroom includes a couple of professional how-many-beans-in-the-jar guessers.

Now, who gets the answer to the question "how many beans in the jar", and gets it right, most consistently?

A.) The expert(s)?
B.) Some random guy in the classroom who got lucky?
C.) The group consensus?

The amazing thing is that the group gets it. And science validates this phenomenon. No single individual - the group consensus. Interesting phenomenon, yes?

I put forward Granville57.
Good sense of humor and the right level of maturity.

And I agree about roundabout. Could also be solid, but not sure how (s)he would handle a messy situation. I.e. not keen on heavy handed moderation.

Foxxy would probably work for me too.

No one in their right mind would want to be a mod on CN. It is a thankless sh!t sandwich. I am happy to be a mod on the forums that are happy to have me. I literally would not be one here if I was paid for it.

Lack of humor, not quite true:

And I agree, SB is doing a good job. The overall line is a bit heavy for me, but he he is fair.

Where's the poll? The poll goes up when we get more names. And more posts and interest.

And again, I understand that some, like Amsterhammer, would not want the slot. But that is not the question. I'd like to find out who would have the most respect if they WERE a mod. I knew going into this that Amster would turn it down if offered, but I still think he is a valid name, 'coz I'm not asking if he is interested. I'm asking the rest of yez if ya think he - or anyone else - would be a good mod.

Some of the answers I see I know are not serious - except as trolling. But keep bringing the thoughts and names. We'll give it a few pages to develop. I'd like to see some input from quieter members.

Nobody has mentioned Aussie Goddess - but she gets a lot of respect, yes? Or Mew? Including a female pov is good for managing groups - proven success formula.

Remember - I have no standing. I can't ask the people who eventually get votes to be mod. But, I am interested in what this group could come up with if they tried to lead themselves, as a group. I don't want a "dream team" - I do want some basis in reality - so Amsterhammer is likely part of a dream team. But he is also only one member. So I would include him in a poll if I see he is getting traction here. And, if we came up with 10 more names that got support in a poll - then maybe we get 9 who might be "the real deal". Idk - it's just an idea - I want to see what we as a group can come up with. After all - we ARE the forum inhabitants.

If the thread doesn't get enough traction - then the poll won't happen. You get the leadership you work for.

I'm glad to see some current mods getting mentioned too.
