I like all the Dutch and Belgian riders. They inspire me to go riding even when the weather is foul. I figure they go ride in nasty weather, so can I.
Jens Voigt is entertaining to watch. As is Vino.
Also the Frenchman with the German name, Thomas Voeckler.

Vino is my favorite, and when he retires it will be passed on to Gilbert.

I favor attacking riders like Voeckler, Sy. Chavanel, Voigt, Cancellara. I am also liking Griepel a fair amount, a sprinter who is willing to go in the break for a win, even if its a sprint stage.

The Aussies of course and the top of the lot is Stuie O'Grady. It will be a sad day when he hangs up the helmet. Cadel of course.

Then there is the obvious Jens and Vino, Voeckler and Spartacus

Unashamedly, Contador, been a fan since he was a junior that won't change no matter what happens.

I love attacking riders, Berto won the Giro by attacking everyone else whenever he could and it'll be the same in the tour, that's what I love to watch so second would be Voeckler, awesome to watch. To a lesser extent Vino. Anyone who can light up a race gets a big + in my book.

Gained a lot of respect for Cuddles over the last year or so because iof the honour he paid to the rainbow jersey, something so many world champs have failed to do in recent years.

Not a big fan of sprinters but Cav does give good soundbite.

Don't really go in for the nationalist jingoism but if I did I'm limited to a choice of one.....David Millar - on Scot in the pro peloton :D

I really like Philippe and his style of riding. I think there is more in him and should he broaden his prep to include cobbled classics he is the man to watch.

Vino, Vockler, Evans are also very entertaining riders.

Why are the Schleck brothers not included in the poll?

My favorite is Michael Rasmussen followed by Riccardo Ricco. As for current ProTour guys, I'm not sure.

I'm utterly confused by this. Please check out the start lists of the cobbled classics this year (except Roubaix), I think you might be surprised.

Because I figured no one liked them. :) I had a lot of doubts about including Voeckler though. I should have. He seems like the most popular rider in the peloton...

Lol you'd be surprised - they used to be well-liked on the forum. I remember a couple Schleck-appreciaion threads during or after the 2009 TdF about the "boys from the neghbourhood" and such. It's amazing what one stage in ToC, a slippery road in France, a few unfortunate interviews and Lance's retirement (mostly the latter) can do ;) :p :D

This is a very high quality post from you Pisti.

Totaly out of character;)

Its either Valverde or Samu Sanchez:D

Are you seriously coming onto a "what is your favourite rider thread" and saying " There is a rider I like but Im not going to say his name".

Nah, I had Samu Sanchez.

It's Gadret. And I forgot Stybar in my other post(although you probably did not have the pleasure yet to see him racing) :p

Cyclocross guys, it was an easy one Hitch :p You don't know what you're missing.

Big fish dopers, I might like the way they ride, but I'll find it hard supporting them (example: I love the way Vino races but ...)

Holds for Leuky, too? :p Anyway, how can we know that the way they ride is not related to their being dopers. Vino doped. Hence he could attack !

If anyone I'm listing here below is one day confounded for doping, I'll scrap them, with force. But so far, they're my favourites. ;)

Favourite roadies:
Niki Terpstra, Nikolas Maes, Sep Vanmarcke, Pablo Urtasun (for his Paris-Roubaix 2009; hats off!), Jeremy Roy, Arnold Jeannesson, Cyril Gautier and Kevyn Ista

Favourite crossers: Kevin Pauwels, Tom Meeusen, Zdenek Stybar, Enrico Franzoi, Lars van der Haar, Bart Aernouts, Arnaud Jouffroy, Philipp Walsleben, Wietse Bosmans, Klaas Vantornout, Sven Vanthourenhout, Mike Teunissen, Christoph Pfingsten, Émilien Viennet, Radomir Simunek, ... (basically I like almost every crosser!)

Favourite mtb'er:
Julien Absalon

By far the best list so far (apart from mine). :)

Roy is such a humble guy; a great rider but also a thoughtful person. I like. Very much.

After Jeremy finished his first Paris-Roubaix in 2006:

Madiot: You are another man, now.

Jeremy: No! I've just become a man ! :)

I really like him. He's also very much concerned with the environment. And as an engineer, he worked on the electric derailleur.

Thank you for your comment, lol. ;)

PS: well Andy Schleck might get a mention, here. Not that he's my favourite rider. Far from it. But his haters (most of them being French) sometimes make him kind of a nice guy to me, lol.

I wouldn't say that I have a favorite rider per se. I usually cheer for riders putting up a good show, so typically I will root for aggressive riders like Txurruka, Duarte and Vinokourov.

I like to follow the development of younger riders aswell, so when I see a rider I've been following for some time, I will usually be hoping for him to produce a good result aswell.

When I was younger, my favorite rider was without a doubt Indurain. It's quite contradictive to the types of riders I root for now, but my admiration for Indurain was mainly because I was blown away by his dominance in the Tour de France.

At the moment some of my favorite riders include Anton, Kwiatkowski and Duarte because they fit my criteria. I have a lot of respect for Contador aswell mainly because how good he is, and because - as we saw in the Giro - he usually is quite aggressive. I've always liked his personality aswell as he always seems very humble.

Personal characteristica has a lot to say aswell. I don't like riders being arrogant.

I've got a lot of favourites. The ones I cheer most for are Cancellara, Nibali (as my favourite classics and grand tour racers respectively), Terpstra, Voight, Wegmann, Szmyd, Leukemans and Thomas. Of those listed here I voted for Cancellara, but also Cavendish and Sanchez. There's many more riders I like though, and only very few I dislike.

I often find myself supporting the riders who are most disliked by others. The Schlecks have gained a lot of favour from me since a year or something everyone is constantly hating on them. I always liked them, but now people can't help but to constantly mention how terrible those Schlecks are (with often quite bad arguments too) I actually like them more. Same with Cavendish for instance, though his twitter posts also contributed to that.

I've only seen cx over the last couple seasons.
It is epic stuff, I too find it hard to dislike a cx guy (probably the main reason I don't dislike gadret)

What do you mean? Watching cycling on France Télévision I get the feeling they like the Schlecks a lot. Fignon was criticizing Andy a lot last year but Thierry Adam, Laurent Jalabert and Luc Holtz all like him as far as I can tell. I don't know about the French public, but I think they at least prefer him to Contador (see booing incidents after chaingate)
