I've only seen cx over the last couple seasons.
It is epic stuff, I too find it hard to dislike a cx guy (probably the main reason I don't dislike gadret)

Bart Wellens is one seriously annoying fella though.

After Jeremy finished his first Paris-Roubaix in 2006:

Madiot: You are another man, now.

Jeremy: No! I've just become a man ! :)

I really like him. He's also very much concerned with the environment. And as an engineer, he worked on the electric derailleur.

Thank you for your comment, lol. ;)

PS: well Andy Schleck might get a mention, here. Not that he's my favourite rider. Far from it. But his haters (most of them being French) sometimes make him kind of a nice guy to me, lol.

Yes! I like Jeremy Roy a lot! I met him briefly in Montreal (along with other FDJ teammates) very nice guy!

I used to root for him, but I root for everyone that challenges Nys(I like Nys, but I think he has a big enough palmares already).

Nowadays it's Pauwels, Stybar and Niels Albert I mostly root for. Especially Albert, his interviews are sooo funny.

--

Personality wise I can like both humble(Contador) and arrogant(Gilbert and the one and only VDB) cyclists. I like it when a cyclist says he's going to win that day and manages to do it.

You must love Boom then.

No, he doesn't do cyclocross anymore ;) Or only a couple races each year. But yes, I like to see him win on the road no matter what the silly Dutchies think :p

CX is only one part of it.

Boom did that in style on Sunday.

Nah, he said in an interview after he was surprised with his results. You can't say you're going to win and than be surprised you did.

Come on, that was an easy one with absence of The Great Peter Sagan and The Great Zdenek Stybar, while EVEN me predicted that win. :p
Anyway, Stybar would have given Boom a minute. lol

I have to admit, that there is still no rider I would call my absolute favorite rider right now.
That would mean sweating blood and tears, and total devotion.

My heart was destroyed on 30.06.2006 and it's still healing. I still feel like a widower.

Simon Clarke, Heinrich Haussler, Gossy, Cadel and Matty Lloyd would have to be my top 5 but i like all the Aussie guys (excepts for Grahem Brown)
Bole, Vanmarke, Terpstra, Sicard, Thomas would be my favourite foreigners
I usually go for an Kiwi, south African, Irishman, Welshman, Scottsman, Canadian, Yank or Frenchman over a Spaniard or Italian but there are some exceptions. (cant bring myself to go for englishmen until Aus win the ashes back;))

Albert is by far my favorite cyclo crosser. He's also pretty friendly in person despite all those tools mobbing him after the race.

Pauwels really is as shy as they get, impossible to have a conversation with the guy.

Walsleben is incredibly amiable, my favorite foreigner by a mile. He's the nicest guy of the pack and pretty funny to talk with.

I don't like Stybar, because he became more arrogant after his recent status upgrade.

Nys is pretty boring, but he's an OK guy in the end.

Wellens: unfriendly self centered f*cker. :)

Boom: never spoke with him, but he's pretty badass. Unfortunately he's Dutch :)

So I discover that Denmark isn't the great cycling nation it used to be. If we had this poll in the 90'ies Rolf Sørensen and maybe Bjarne Riis would have appeared on that list.

I will make two lists, one with my favourite danish riders and another with my favourite international riders.

Favourite danish riders:

Matti Breschel
Chris Anker Sørensen
Nicki Sørensen
Alex Rasmussen
Jacob Nielsen

Favourite international riders:

Alberto Contador
Cadel Evans
Pierrick Fedrigo
Phillipe Gilbert
Davide Moncoutie
Fabian Cancellara
Fränk Schleck
Jack Bobridge

He's not that arrogant, but have you read the story about the Belgian "foster" home he was staying with when he first went to Belgium for cyclocross?
