What about Gesink. I'm routing for him, but still. After the Thomas Dekker scandal, all at once a Dutch rider second only to Valverde until bad luck struck. Definitely clean?
A long list of popular likely-clean riders should help boost the sport, and positive attitude.

Side note, my opinion : admit doping immediately : 2 year ban. First deny and then be found guilty anyway: life ban.

All I know is that Pat McQuaid tells me that doping is nowhere nearly as widespread as in years past. Yet the peloton is traveling as fast as ever. This tells me one thing... I have got to get me some of those ceramic bearings!

According to Neil Robinson of the Lausanne lab, most riders are using Hematide and Sestide, which are both undetectable (test is being developed and should soon be available). They're caught only when they buy on the black market what they believe is Hematide or Sestide, but turns out to be first or second generation EPO.

So they get caught cheating because they're cheated. Poetic justice :D

Bad translation on my part, sorry. it's supposed to read that most riders that use EPO use the Hematide and Sestide forms :)

However, Martial Saugy the head of the Lausanne lab said in late 2007 that they were able to tell from the tests that "around 80%" of the Tour peloton blood doped". And since climbing powers this year were higher than in 2007....well, you be the judge.

Not quite - from this CN article:

"47 out of 189 riders raced on blood transfusions or EPO," Martial Saugy alleged. "We have been able to show this from the samples taken at the health controls."

However he does go on to say:
"As soon as there will be a water-proof test for growth hormone, it will show that 80 percent [of the peloton] is taking it..."

Aha! Seems I mistook the HgH for the blood doping. Thanks doc :)
