Such threads exist for virtually everything, so I want to show some love to Lanterne Rouge

Strange not to see Vino as an option, but I guess it makes sense.
Huta ftw.

I thought about creating this same thread, but could not come up with the right words without getting banned. Pure opposite of genious and coolness...

Need to keep my record of fanboy selections in check, so after their dauphine performance I'm going to with on the or greenedge boys.
Let's say Cooke otherwise Langeveld

I think Van Hummell can step up to the plate and build on his last TdF performance. He has it in the bag.

If Kenny doesn't finish then one of the workhorse rouleurs will get it - eg Grabsch, Pate, Eisel, Hansen, Bak simply because they'll be stuffed before the mountains.

van Hummel won't be Lantern Rouge.

No idea who it will be, but van Hummel is 8kg lighter then he was 3 years ago. He isn't struggling on the mountains anymore at all.

It will probably someone who crashes during the TdF.

Or someone who will spend hours on the front and then just cruise to the finish. A Sky guy, Christian Knees maybe?

I thought the last man was the Lanterne Rouge, not that he won it.

He 'wins' it in the sense that he remains in the race despite being horribly behind.

some breakaway fanatic looking for stage wins, in the mold of Jacky Durand.

He'd have to be careful not getting into breakaways too much.
Dunno why but I kinda got reminded of something I read about the Giro when they had a special jersey for the last placed rider and these two guys would do all sorts of weird stuff to be last in the GC... :p

I forgot Argos will be in the race. It will indeed be an Argos guy, none of them can climb, basically. Maybe Kittel himself, if he manages to finish the Tour at all.

Other.

Fabio Sabatini isn't riding this year so he won't be defending his "title".

Marcus Burghardt finished 4th last year - might be in with a chance, as would some sprinters and their leadout riders.
