Well, i think it's a good thing and i've been waiting a long time for a solution like this. How many times in the past have contenders with a sub-par team been rendered hopeless after a TTT? On the other hand, there are teams that actually do care about the team classification, and they can go all out here if they want. So i don't agree it's pointless, and i don't agree it's a stupid idea. If anything, having the TTT not count towards IGC, will only help the tension.

We've all read reports of riders being hammered by Valverde in training rides during his ban and we can see his true capabilities in a big race, after a few wins early in the season. True, AC has been away from racing only 6 months whereas Valverde was away for 18 months. But I wouldn't underestimate the possible effect of lack of competitive racing. Even if he wins, it will be closer to Giro 2008 than Giro 2011.

I don´t think at all he will able to find same form as in the giro 2011, lack of racing will most likely have it´s effect.
But he has only been out of contention 6 months, and according to the reports so far been training like a mad man.

AC is such a huge talent and with the mental capacity to make it happen, and I think he want to prove something after his ban.
I´m also sure it will be a close Vuelta and we will witness a great battle.

"This sixteen-kilometre stage, which will not affect the overall classification, gives the teams the opportunity to present themselves to the general public and their fans. The last few kilometres are highly technical and will demand the full focus of all the riders."
What is the point of the stage then? I definitely will not watch it then... Apart from 40km ITT there is no other TT. In terms of time trialing it is worse than the worst Giro.

Purito will make Alberto look like an amateur, this time, unlike the Giro he will go for the kill. :D

Purito FTW!!!

Although my opinion can be a bit biased, being a fan of him. He'll probably have to win all MTF's to compensate his TT losses. :(
