Goss. He hadn't won anything pre worlds and got the silver, so not concerned about his lack of wins this year, and the tougher course (compared to the Worlds) brings Cav back a little bit....about the width of a wheel is all he needs.

Hard to pick. Problem is, just like the Worlds, all the top guys want it real bad. Oddly enough, I'm a fan of most all of em.

Really want Goss(Greenedge) to win this, but he hasnt shown much form so far this year. All the usual contenders will be their and Cavendish(Sky)is the man to beat.My darkhorse is Boonen i havent seen him riding this well, early on in the season, for a couple of years.
podium:1st=Goss
2nd=Boonen
3rd=Cavendish

Looking at the teams, 60% for a bunch sprint is pretty conservative. For it not to be a bunch sprint nowadays something has to happen before the Poggio with enough commitment to put the sprinters out of contention, no team seems really committed to that sort of plan, maybe BMC, or maybe an unexpected early break sticking. This one is 90% sprint.

Yep, that's my thinking too.

I just don't see where the anti-sprint partisans can get the numbers, the commitment or the horsepower from.

Still, the great thing about M-SR is that there's always the option of the other 10% ... right up to the end.

I voted for Sagan, but if Vivianni is 150-1 I'll but a couple on him LOL!

I'd take those odds.

I've got a really strong feeling that Viviani be the highest ranked finisher on the Liquigas team ... and so does Davide Cassani.

Like most other people, I was impressed by Sagan and Nibali at T-A, but in most plausible M-SR scenarios both have significant negatives against them.

It's Primavera time!

With 3K to go, Oscarito will turn off his cloaking device and emerge as part of an elite 7 man selection! Oscarito will time his sprint perfectly, and win by a bike length, going away! Oscarito!

Sure hope I don't get up at 6 to watch Cavendish win.

You should put money on him then. His odds are at 150...

After seeing the weather forecast, I think Cavendish will get the victory.

Forecast calls for rain. how does rain benefit Cav?

Agree, Cav delivered perfectly to the line by the Sky team.

Yeah but they can only carry him to the win if all the other teams without a sprinter who can beat Cav (most notably BMC and Liquigas) let them do it. I want to see a hellish pace on the capi tomorrow...

Err ... no it doesn't.

Last RAI weather forecast had cloud (with a slight chance of drizzle) over the run down to the coast, then a bright sunny spring day along the coast (with the occasional, non-rainy cloud).

Voted for Sagan, but surprised Haussler in not there
Especially when BMC = Other

I would love to see Haussler win but wonder if his team with be able to support him enough when he really needs them near the end?

Whilst i agree that Viviani could go well in a sprint, this year the focus will be on Nibali/ Sagan. Sagan will still do the sprint for Liquigas even if Cav is in the sprint.

Unlike Sky they have 2 perfect cards to play ( Skys' are not defined so well ) but they do have the same quality riders ( Cav Vs Nibali- WC VS GT winner ) and ( EBH VS Sagan ) as the two young prodigious talents.

And for Cav to not have an illegal helmet/ Sagan blocking him for a bit.

Hoping for:

Cancellara with a late attack. EBH is the only one who can follow and he then takes the sprint between the two.

Most likely:

Cavendish.

Could surprise us all today:

Haussler. Seems back in good old form.

Johnny Hoogerland is going to destroy all life on the Cipressa :p

more like on turchino:p

seriously now,he said in an interview that he will attack only on the poggio:eek: also he said he's a changed man and he won't do more crazy attacks,he learned to wait,he will probably be a tour de france contender this year mark my words.

my picks:
cavendish
or
gilbert
or
cancellara
or
di luca as a big fan

You forgot about his upcoming Olympic gold medal, World Championship road race title, and Nobel peace prize. No need to even mention Time Magazine Person of the Year, is there? 2012 is looking to be quite a year for young Mr Sagan.

lol

not to mention becoming the president of Kazhakstan ... oh wait - thats Vino.

Still - impressive for 23 :D
