How is that different to every year? Before the Vuelta the gc field ALWAYS looks stacked. Last year I think most of the Giro top 10 was there. What did they do? Uran contested 1 stage. Betancur nothing. Scarponi nothing. Niemiec nothing. Majka nothing. Same **** happens every year. Many of the guys you listed aren't even contenders anyway.

Unless he sacrifice everything for a Quintana puncture 40 km away from the finishing line on a flat stage with heavy wind I can't see him out of top 10. Probably top 5. Might even top 3 with Quintana Astana 06 style

Valverde out of Top 10? This is gonna be Movistar against Froome with cameo appearances from Horner, Aru and Purito. Only the tired legs from the Tour might prevent Valverde to podium.

His form must be better than in the giro if he wants to top 10. He was great in Trentino though.

Some of are prob joking with Aru but i doubt he's gonna perform well in the vuelta.

The only riders (recent years) that i can remember that perform well in the vuelta after the giro is nibali and purito. And nibali wasn't at the same level anymore

big difference is that Aru hasn't been riding at all this year. just 34 race days so far this season. With Poland now he will go into the Vuelta with "only" 40 race days. So he should be "fresh". atleast compared with most other guys

If he gets to the top 3 with Quintana it will be Astana 08 style

Yeah, very much true. Often times the fields for GT's in general look very good. But it's only once we get into the racing that we truly can see who the real competitors will be and who just won't do much/anything. We'll have to wait until the racing begins to see who doesn't have the form, who does, and who crashes out or loses time early.

Valverde is one of those consistent riders of the Vuelta who always ends up in a high placing. Given his history we can pretty much count on him to be up there.

Only just had a look at the route and it sucks even by Vuelta standards.

Anyhoo, If Froome has any sort of form close to how he was in the Dauphine he will take it. 44kms of ITT will help him as well. Sky need this to save their season.

Some are tired from Tour, others simply went into hybernation since Giro, others take it as a preparation for the Worlds.

Henao was Sky's GC hope for last year's Vuelta, so Uran was never gonna be a big factor there. I assume Uran will be riding for GC this time with OPQS

True, but a lot of the suspense is finding out who they are and who's there with the form to go for the win.
