What's so ridiculous about the criteria. Turn up to the World Championships, ride well. EARN an extra spot. If Cycling USA can't get their act together that's there fault. They chose not to target the worlds, other countries did specifically because they knew the Olympics were the following year. If Cycling USA weren't aware 2012 was an Olympic year its hardly the rest of the world's fault.

And why do they need a qualifying event in June. There already is one. Its called the World Championships. You may have heard of it. Its kind of a big deal. Admittedly it isn't held in July so it may not get coverage in some parts of the world.

TT championship performance has nothing to do with TT grand tour performance.

Yet the formula uses rankings based on the UCI events for all events. Good to know that one's ability to cobble, ride classics, or grand tours affects one's ability to gain a spot for one's country for an ITT and we're not even talking about the fact that a country's performance is also tied into the success of professional teams.

It's like saying the number 100 meter dash runners a country gets should be tied into a country's ability to run the steeplechase. It makes absolutely no sense.

Then there's the qualification for a second spot predicated on a Time Trial that takes place 10 months prior to the Olympics.

The whole process is mental.

It would make sense you know to actually hold qualifying or determine the number of spots based on you know ... time trialing ability

Which, again, they did, by giving an extra spot to nations who did a top 10 in the World Championship TIME TRIAL last year.

But you seem to be oblivious to that fact, even though it has already been explained to you, 3 times, now.

It's USA to blame for not performing at the worlds ITT last year.
Now get it or get lost

And as I explained to you I don't have an issue with having an event to determine who qualifies seeing as that's how all most of the other olympic sports do it. I do take issue with the idea that a result from 10 months prior to the Olympics is suitable when all the other sports hold their trials within 2-3months of the Olympics if not sooner.

If you don't understand why that is an important issue then I don't what else to tell you.

If you don't understand that the USA now there is a criteria for placement, and don't tell their riders to focus on that event to qualify for the extra place. Than it's 100% usa's fault

The criteria in itself is fine. Stop whining.

Wiggins is hungry.

I see Wiggins is again on the UK bike and not his Pinarello Graal, also noticed on the CN photo gallery of rider practice on the course Mick Rogers is also not on his Sky team bike but what looks like an old Cervelo

And Wiggins always looks hungry. He needs to eat more

Wiggins has to be the odds makers favorite

I love Wiggo. He showed tremendous heart during the Tour de France. Some of the European followers said it was a boring Tour due to the lack of attacks i the mountains but I really think he was solid. He gains a ton of confidence on this win looking toward next year when the field should be much more competitive.

Check out the image I shot during the Stage 19 Time Trial to Chartes:

1. Wiggo
2. Cancellara
3. Phinney

Although I hope Cancellara is able to beat Wiggins. Seems unlikely though, with his injury and Wiggins being in super form.

with the exception of a mechanical(s) i see no reason why wiggins will not absolutely destroy every other person in the ITT

I wonder, why didn't Lux bring Bob Jungels?

Apparently you're not allowed to replace a rider who had to drop out for doping issues.

Totally Agree! He'll probably even have time for a 'warm down' and 'cadence adjustment' mid split, Totally Awesome! Sir Wiggins!

and might use his new swimming techniques too

if wiggins gets the 1st gold for GB i wouldnt think 'sir wiggins' would be out of the question to be honest

just because Wiggo put in so much work in the RR, I hope he blows away Martin and Spartacus, with Phinney taking a surprise silver, and Mick Rodgers taking the bronze.... fantasy
