I'll stick my neck out and predict Esteban Chaves to win the Vuelta barring crashes. He's young, fresh and looking good so far.

I agree, I originally voted Contador as I though he'd have recovered better form his Tour crashes than he has, today obviously was another big blow for him so Chavez has massive chance now, providing he doesn't crack in the final stages like he did in the Giro.

Froome is the clear favourite for me as of now.

Chaves and Quintana stand very good chances and definitely can win. Chaves may have an extra gear in the mountains, but he needs to build up a rather significant lead. Quintana needs to avoid getting sick and whatever has plagued him in GT's recently and stick it to Froome on the big MTFs, but it will be hard.

Valverde and Contador have outside shots.

Quintana can win the Vuelta if and only if he and Movistar let far away their complex of inferiority about Froome, and I really doubt it will happen, then a guy like Chaves got fresh mind and insouciance but his recovery is potentially a concern, even if in theory Froome rode TdF. The 37km flat TT will be crucial.

Did I miss something or is there really no poll yet? Anyway here it is.
Who are your big favorites? Will the Pistolero get the Vuelta record? Will Chris Froome be able to do the double? Can Quintana come back after his disappointment in France? Or will there be the classical Vuelta outsider, nobody thought about before the start like Cobo, Froome, Horner or Dumoulin?

Oh my, I had such high hopes for this year's Vuelta -- probably naïve of me. Already, before the first week is done, life's whimsy lobs a wrench in the works, and three potential contenders -- Krushweak, Bert, and Lopez -- have already kissed the pavement. Dang it.

I like Contador but I wish he had more knowledgeable fans :p
You think only his fans voted for him?
In many previews and for many experts Contador was the favorite. He didn't live up to the expectations, but don't blame his fans for that.
But yeah, laugh all you want. Sheesh.
